STRANGE STORY-A HOUSE RISES
FROM ITS FOUNDATION.-The Alabama
Coahonomian, of the 17th ult., has the
following:
"As several of our citizens were
standing this morning near tho store?
house of Robinson & Pearce, it was I
discovered to be gradually rising
from its foundation, which it con?
tinued to do until it reached a per?
pendicular height of about eighteen
inches from its pillars. Light could
be distinctly seen from one end to
the other between the sills of the
house and its brick pillars. The firm
has closed the house, and at the hour
of going to press the most, intense
excitement prevailed throughout the
town."
