The arrest of Bradley T. Johnson,
in Baltimore, on Tuesday, is another
breach of the protection accorded in
the parole of surrender of the Con?
federate troops. He was admitted to
bail on an indictment of treason by a
grand jury of the United States Dis?
trict Court in August last. He had
recently gone to Maryland on an ex?
tension of bis parole accorded by
Gen. Grant.
Spain has at last departed from her
time-honored custom of refusing re?
cognition to any of her refractory
children. She has signed treaties
with five of the Central American
Republics-thus for the first time
admitting their independence and
yielding her claim to their sovereignty.
Lieut, Col. DaDiel H. McPhail, of
Baltimore, has received orders from
the Paymaster-General to prooeed to
New Orleans, and relieve Col. Win?
ston as Chief Paymaster of the Dis
trics of the Gulf.
