PROSPECT OF GOOD CROPS.-The
New Orleans Della, of the 19th inst.,
says that a very practical and observ?
ant gentleman had just returned to
that city from a business trip through
the most fertile "cotions of the States
of Tennessee and Mississippi, and a
small portion of Kentucky and Ala?
bama, and says he has never seen
better evidences that a full crop
would be made than were everywhere
observable. There seemed to be no
lack of labor, and both black and
white field hands were at work with
vigor and cheerfulness. After the
reports that he had heard and read,
he could not fail to be astonished.
As to Texas, the Delta says: The re?
ports which reach U3 respecting the
crops in Texas are very encouraging.
The Aberdeen (Mississippi) Sunny
South published an editorial recently
reflecting on the course pursued by
teachers of negro schools in that place
in encouraging their pupils to learn
songs of an incendiary nature. Cap?
tain Hubbard, of the Freedmen's
Bureau, addressed a note on the same
day to the editor, endorsing his views,
and promising that the evil should be
corrected. The pedagogues, when
taken to task, attributed their fault to
inadvertency, and not to cold-blooded
malice.
THE DEAD AT CAMP DOUGLAS.-We
are requested by a letter received
from Mr. E. S. Jordan, box 2,625,
Chicago, LIL, to state that the friends
of prisoners of war who died at Camp
Douglas can obtain information with
regard totheirdeath, disease, location
