JVtXSC^_3XJ_J__3Sr _T Thc BeUc of the Ball. Beautiful, beautiful, Look at her now. How queenly ber footstep! How peerless her brow! Oh, never a bein?. In palace or hail, Can equal her beauty The bche of thc ball. See! now she is dancing, She glides to and fro, With a wild witching motion, Then dreamy and slow. More light than a snow-flake Her footstep doth fall, How perfectlv gracefid, The belle of the bah. Her white arms arc wreathing, Her eye flashes bright, A thousand gems sparkle, And scintillate light. Coquettishly drooping Inc snowy lids fall, And veil the soft glance of Thc belle of the ball. Exquisitely lovely! The blush and thc smile, Which steal o'er the cheek, ' That is dimpling the while. Then her musical voice, Which is sweeter than all She's a sad mischief maker, The bebe of the ball. But now she is weary She tires of thc dance Her liquid eye seeketh An answering glance. Then, close bv her side, As they glide from the hall lie holds the soft hand of The belle of thc ball. Beautiful, beautifi?, Look at her now! A bridal robe 'round her, And wreath on her brow. Tho one at her side when She went from the hal', Has won thc proud heart of ,The belle of the ball. - THOSE WHO DANCE MUST PAY THE PIPER.-On Saturday last, Messrs. F. ~W. Bennett & Co., auctioneers, sold the celebrated old violin which itt one time belonged to the late ?)r. Thomas Edmondson, afterwards used by Professor Allen, and for the last three years in the possession of the late Glosac Picciolli, a promi? nent professor of music of this city, by whom it was greatly prized. This celebrated Cremona is well known Ly musical gentlemen throughout the country, and the fact that it was to be sold under the hammer caused quite a large attendance of the musical fraternity of Boston, New York and Philadelphia. The first bid was $100, then $200-, then successively $250 and $300. A gentleman who seemed determined to possess it bid $500, while it was ascertained that there 'were present at least twenty five gentlemen eager to take it at that price ; then $600 was offered, followed by $700, some fifteen persons claim? ing the bid. Finally, after several more advances, it was knocked down to George T. Coulter, Esq., of this city, for $960. This is certainly a big price for a little fiddle, and the auctioneer must have drawn a long bow, and the .^purchaser a long purse. At all events, those who dance after thc music of Coulter's Cremona ought to be willing to pay the fiddler. [Baltimore Su?.. A FAMILY WEDDING COAT.-The Stanton Spectator, in the following, gives an account of a coat that has proved a veritable heir-loom: "Many years since, an old German citizen of Pendleton County, when about to lead Iiis fair 'frow' to the hymeneal altar, purchased a broad- ! cloth coat in which he was married, j His wile presented him with many i children, among whom were eight I sons, every one of whom were i married in the same coat in which i their father married their mother. The youngest of thc sons hud seven ! sous, every one of whom were married ' in the same wedding coat, and after ! the youngest son of the seven, or the youngest grand-son of tho original ? owner of the coat had led his blush? ing bride to the altar in his venerable grand-father's fashionable wedding j coat, lie sold it for the sum of ten j dollars. What has become of the coat since it was sold we have not j Leen advised, but suppose that some one is keeping it for thc purpose of getting married in it."
