We have been induced, by the pro? vidence of .?e*rV unpleasant rumors with regard to tue health of this city, to in .ike a rigid scrutiny into the tacts and to examine the official records of the officers charged with tho direction and control of medical affairs in our community,' iii order Chafe we might authentically "inform our citizens in th? premises,- and correct tho erro? neous impressions which have pre? vailed about this all-important subject. We are happy to 'announce that our own impressions in the matter have been thoroughly confirmed, and that there does not exist the slightest shaffow of reason , for the absurd re? ports which* have been eire ut?.. td about the pr?sence of yellow fever or any other epidemic or contagious disease in our midst, nor tho smallest ground 'for any apprehension as to the proba? bilities or possibilities Of their coming, so far as human, knowledge and thc ( .established precedents of science can j discern. Ih, bur. investigations Ve' have bean most materially and cour? teously assisted bv Dr. Rec?or, the Chief Health Officer of this District, and by the City Registrar, Dr. Geo. S.
