THE EABLT CLOSING MOVEMENT. -The prac? tice of dosing the wholesale stores at an early boar on Saturday afternoons is nqw being adopted by many o? the leading houses alone Fast Bay and the other wholesale business streets, and the movement ls certainly one that should be encouraged. Tne tendency ol modern methods ot trade, with tne lurlous competition tha'j now prevails in every Une of business, ls instim?late merchants, clerks aud others to s'joh a degree of exertion aa to hardly allotr i.uem sufficient time for the relaxation lutf. relief from toll which la imperatively de? manded In this climate, and especially during the summer season. DISCOVERY OF SKELETONS.-The coroners In Savannah have just had an unexpected wind? fall In the discovery by some workmen en? gaged In cleaning out the t?creven sewer In that city, of six haman skeletons, la the sewer near Laoblison's foundry. The sewer runs along the canal from above the Central Rail? road to the river. Just after the war, Lac hi 1 Bon's foundry was used by the Federal author? ities as a small pox hospital for negroes, and upwards of loor hundred of these patients died in lt, and were burled on the aoj oin lng lands. These are the remains of some ol the victims. The report of the resurrection of these negroes drew quite a crowd of the enri?os to the locality. BIRD'S-ETE VIEW OK CHARLESTON.-Mr. C. Drle, who was in Charleston a few weeks ago preparing the drawing of a bird's-eye view of the city, returned yesterday Irom Baltimore, where he has had the drawiDg lithographed and printed in colors, and he is now prepared to deliver the picture to his subscribers. The picture is exceedingly artistic as well as mi? nutely accurate, and lt conveys a better idea of the size and topography of Charleston at a single glance than conld be obtained by an examination ol the most perfect map. Mr. Drle has also recently completed a similar view of the city of Columbia, which ls the most faithful delineation ot that city's features that has ever been made, and which com? manded a ready and extensive sale. THE PROPOSED NIGHT SCHOOL.-A grand moonlight excursion has been arranged to take place this evening on the steamer St. Helena, which will start irom the Market street wharr, at precisely eight o'clock. The excursion ls under the auspices of Mechanics' TJuiou, No. 1, and the proceeds are to be ap? plied toward the purchase of a library lor the use of the members, and the establishment of a night school for the benefit of apprentices In the city. This project of a night Behool for the benefit of those whose early education has been neglected, and those whose occupations prevent their attendance upon the day schools, is a most deserving one, and should receive the heany support of our citizens. Some years ago an appropriation ot five thousand dollars was made by the Legislature for the purpose ot establishing night schools here, but the plan was tor some reason or other aban I doned, and the disposition made of the five ! thousand dollars is another one bf the dark mysteries ol our State finances which are "past finding out." Now an opportunity ls af? forded of showing practical sympathy with the enterprise, and at the same time of enjoying a most pleasant cruise among the moonlit beau? ties of Charleston harbor. Thc Financial Chronicle saya : The market for spot cotton bas exhibited less strength the past Week, but prices have falltn on about xe Tor futuna. There ha? beena sharp decline. This downward movement waa mainly owing to the impression that purtles having cut- contracts lor the Bum:utr months had either covered or set le i them and as toe "corner" was there lore broken, no ariioclal demand could be relied upon tu maluialn value?, and much lesi to force a lurther au vance. The favorable crop accounts, and consequent large estimates of tne yi> ld, have also whelped to depress prices, their tendency being to lessen tho legitimate demand still tne ofreilngs continue light, receipts being almost nominal, stocks becoming very small, and the quantity of american cot ton throughout the world rapidly dimln larung, while the consumption, even at the pres ent high prk es, fal is to receive any decide*! check; holders, therefore, appear to have con s id ?rable c mfldence ?o the maluteuance of the rates at a h'gh point until me new crop begins to And Us way to market, lo-lay, with a ilg.it demand for spot cotton, the quotations remained uuchang ed for uplands, but were Xe higher for other ?trades. " junio FIRST-CLASS MEDAL ALF. ?ABARRAQUE AND Co QUINIUM [.ABARRAQUE Approved by the Imperial Academy of Medicine The Qninium Labarraqne is an eminently tonic and febrifuge Wine, destined to replace all the other preparations of Peruvian Bark. The Bark Wines usually employed inme dicine are prepared from Barks which vary considerably in the degree to which they possess the desired properties. Besides, owing to the manner in which they are pre? pared, these Wines contain scarcely more than the traces of' active principles, and these always in variable proportions. The Qnlninm Labarraqne, approved by the Academy of Medicine, constitutes, on the contrary, a m?decine of determined compo? sition, rich in active principles, and on wich Physicians and Patients can always rely. The Quintana La barraque is prescribed willi great success for persons of weak con tilution, or for those debilitated by various exhausting causes or past sickness; for youths fatigued by too rapid growth; for young girls whose development takes place with difficulty; for women in childbirth; and for aged persons enfeebled by years or illness. lt is the best preservative against Fevers. In cases of Chlorosis, Anemia, orGreensik ncss, Ibis Wine is a powerful auxiliary of the ferruginous preparations. In conjunction, for example, with VAILKT'S PIUS, the rapidi? ty of its action is really marvellous. Depot ia Paris. L. FRERE, 19, nt Jacob.
