Under an increased consumptive demand, and
more ravorab e reports from other markets, there
ba* been a gradna, increase in-the stre: gib of
this marker, and prices have advanced f?r nearly
all article*. Speculators have operated quite
freely, andthlsfact has added materially tu the

The stronger fet-llng appears to be general
throughont the country, and lt ls evident that
stock* are no larger now tnan they were at this
time last year. The export ? emaud coniinu-s
urgenr, and we no?e a gradual increase ortoretgn
orders, owing to the (act that prices are lower
here than at other points. The extreme views or
Bower*, however, has in a measure checked bast

past week ror spot cotton bas been quiet, but
there has been an npwhrd tendency lu prices, and

The favorable. Influences operating have been the

provement In Liverpool. Cur quotations, how?
ever, are so high as to prevent any export move?
ment, and the sa es have been almost entirely ror
consumption. For future delivery the business
