THE CROPS.-The past week has been moderate?
ly favorable for the performance of plantation
work, the weather for apart of the time being
rather cool, and the period was diligently used

THC RECEIPTS.-The arrivals at 1 he cotton ports
for the week np to Friday last, were 35,163 bales,
against 36,062 the week before, and 64,166 for
the week last year. At New Orleans the supplies
were n 224 bales, in contrast with 26,173 for "be
year previous. The total receipts at the cotton
pons from September 1, 1871, up to the latest
dates, were 2,511,02-2 bales, against 8,467,889 bales
the year before, showing a decrease of 966,817

SKA ISLAND COTTON.-The receipts of this quali?
ty of the staple are rednoed to a light figure, and
were 19 bags or Carolinas and Floridas, of which
10 were rrom Savannah and 9 from Florida. The
Inquiry has been moderate, partly for Northern
account, with transactions amounting to some
250 bags of carolinas and Floridas, among which
were, of Carolinas, 2 at 65c. 12 at 62X. 6 at 63,19
at 65, io at es, 16 at 68,30 at 70,13 at 76,3 at 80,6
at 95c; of Floridas, 28 at 45c, 35 at 50,10 at 55,10
at 60,8 at 65,6 at ssc. There was some diversity
of views among buyers and sellers in reference
to the condition of the market, a part calling lt
easier, and that they had purchased at lower
rat's, while others thought there was no change.
BICK.-The arrivals of carolina rough are un?
important, The market has been quiet and some?
what duli, with a few sales early in the week at
Blighty easier rates; later, fer several days, there
were no transactions; factors were not disposed
to make Important concessions In the face of the
light supply or dornest lc in Bight, and are firm in
the future prospect of prices. The transactions
for the week were 850 bbls, among which were 23
tierces ats 1-16,30 at 8X,Tl at 8X.22at8Xc
Yesterday about 170 tierces were sold mostly on
private terms. We quote nominally common to
lair clean carolina at TX?sc; good sx@8Xc
NATAL STORES.-The arrivals are more liberal,
and were 1600 bbls of rosins and 800 bbls of spir?
its for the week. The market opened quiet and
dull, and spirits turpentine receded to 6l@52c,
bat afterwards became firmer, withs good de
mand and light stoci, the market showing the
following transactions : Cn Friday, April 12,
there were no sales reported. Oa Saturday, ApsU
13, eales of 60 casks spirits turpentine took place
at 54c; there was .a limited business la rosins'on
the basis of $8@8 60 for window glass, $7 76 for
extra pale, $660@7 for pale, $i@5 60 for No 1, and
