THE ST. JOSEPH'S LATIN SOCIETY will as? semble at half-past eight o'clock this morning, at Hibernian Hall, and proceed to attend High Mass at St. Peter's church. In the evening the Society will elect its officers for the ensu? ing year, and partake of supper at Hibernian Hall. THE LEE SOCIAL CLUB.-A number of our young business men have just formed a social clnb under the above name. They have fur? nished a suite of neat rooms at the corner of King and Liberty streets, where the flies of the newspapers and other attractions are pro? vided. The club, which has as yet but a small membership, but managed, as it is, with tact and judgment, bids fair to Increase and prosper. A Bus ON THREE WHEELS.-Yesterday af? ternoon while an omnibus, returning from the Savannah and Charleston Railroad depot, was passing through Hasel street, Ailed with pas? sengers, the right hind wheel flew off sad j rolled to the sidewalk. The shouts of the in-1 siders admonished the driver that something was wrong, and he quickly reined up. The ? passengers got out with amazing alacrity, and even the ladles did not walt to be helped ont. The bus was soon Axed, but the passengers preferred to walk the short distance to the hotel._ PAINFUL ACCIDENT.-Yesterday morning Mr. J. J. Bea-ley. the well known keeper ot the Masonic Hall, fell from the second story piazza of the building In the rear of Messrs. S. R. Marshall & Co.'s hardware store, corner King and Society streets, and was badly hurt He was moving a table along the piazza when the railing on the edge, against which he was leaning, gave way, and he fell upon the bricks beneath, a distance of some fifteen feet He was for a time unconscious, but revived, and was borne to his residence In Society street, near Meeting: His bruises are of little moment, but lt Is feared that he has received internal Injuries of a more serious nature. At last accounts he was doing well. CLUBS AND STARS.-Daniel Green, a little colored boy with one aim, arrested for break? ing a street-lamp with a brickbat, was dis? missed upon showing that it was an accident. Edward Wright, arrested for belog drunk and raising a disturbance on East Bay, near Laurens street, was fined two dollars, with an alternative of ten days In the House of Cor? rection. Two Bailors, who got drunk, quarrelled and fought lt out at the corner of East Bay and Market streets, were arrested, and visited each with a similar sentence. Both paid up. A goat found astray in Broad street and a cow wandering on the Battery, each cost their owners one dollar to recover them. Kit Butler and John McGinnls, colored, ar? rested on the charge of stealing cotton from the Ann-street Depot of the South Carolina R'^lroad, were brought before Trial Justice Lovett for trial. Kit pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to pay a fine of one dollar and costs, or go to jail for fifteen days. He paid up. McGinnls was not prosecuted. LITSR ACCOUNT* OF THE FIRE IN^?ON.-Tn the report of the Union fire, published In Mon? day's NEWS, some Inaccuracies occurred, and some losses were omitted. The report that a child was burned is not true. No life was lost. There ls no doubt whatever now that the fire was the work of an Incendiary. The authori? ties of the town investigated the matter the next day, and will make a report. It ls Bald that few colored men were to be seen, and even these did not show their usual alacrity to work at the fire. The M. sonic lodge room was over A. H. Foster's store. Mr. W. A. Nicholson saved the charter, and other per? sons saved some of the working je weis, but ail the furniture was either broken in removing or was burned. Too much praise cannot be given to Captain French, commandant of the post, Lieutenant McDougal, and the United States soldiers under their command for their prompt and valuable aid in checking the flames. The captain, as soon as he was in? formed of the Are, immediately had the alarm sounded, and, without Btopplng to dress, rode around the camp and called the men up.
