The extreme character of | the temperature lately prevailing has somewhat Interrupted out 'oor field work, but as no unsatis? factory statement has been made, such labor as the period demands has probably been prosecuted successfully. THE RECEIPTS.-The arrivals at the cotton ports Tor the week up to Friday last were 92,683 bales, against 120,813 the week beforp, and 154,482 for the time last year. At New Orieani the supplied -were 38,118 bales, in contrast with 67,666 the year previous. The total receipts at the cotton ports from September l, 1871, np to the latest dates, were 1,981,614 bales against 2.418,863 the year be? fore, showing a decrease of 437,339.
