Two Songs.
Ah I not to night-my soul ie sore with pain;
Ab l not to-night, for thou wilt plead In val?. .
Though sweet thy voice as fall of summer tain,
Friend, I can flau no other word, but-no
There I -leave me l-Go l
l cannot hear thy pleading. For my tears
I cannot see thy face. 'I hose weary years
Sweep wild across me with their doubts and fears.
Wilt thou obey my anxious 'hegt ?-I know
But that word-Go i
Birds pair not here In winter; south they hie.
I dare not bid thee hope; ah ! no, not I.
Weak hearts brave not the danger. I must fly
Lest through my weakmsj I should yet forego
This whispered-no.
Go, rrlend ! the sun ts sinking d:>wu the west.
To-morrow I may calm this wild unrest;
Bar, ah I to-night I would be left anblest.
S^ok me again, I may not answer no;
Go, darling, Go !
II.-STAT !
Sweet, I have sought for thee long years In vain,
O'er wastes of barren land and o'er the main;
Bot now th j jove, my sweet, shall make lt piala,
Tia not thefcTuel voice or yesterday
Which bids thee stay.
Love, I have pined for thee, long, weary y?ars.
Sweet, I have poured for thee a wealth of tears.
Ah t kiss me, love, and charm these Idle fears.
'There l there I-the last tear trace i? kissed away,
And now, dear-stay 1
In summer airs the swallows homeward fly;
Tue? seek their happy nests so falu would I,
As flowers In rainless sammers droop and die,
So have I pined through manya weary day
To bid thee stay.
I hear the feet of angels down the west;
And In my soul a yearning half-expressed
Bids thee remain, my sweet, my wadding guest.
Let this requite thee forjay cruel nay;
? Ah I larung, stay t
