STEALING FRUIT.-Saturday morning, about
eleven o'clock, a colored boy, who had been
hanging around Mr. Brookbank's fruit store,
and watching, with longing eye?, his templing
display ot apples, &c.,was caught lu the act of
appropriating some of the fruit and secreting
the sace about his person'. He was turned
over to a policeman.

BACONIAN-.-Saturday night John Robinson
and Simons Johnson were discovered in
Alexander street carrying a large quantity of
bacon, which they alleged to have bought lor
a colored woman. 1 hey were arrested, and
the woman denies all knowledge of the affair.
The bacon, about thirty pounds, is at the
Guardhouse, and the prisoners will be brought
before the Mayor thi3 morning on the charge
of larceny.
WON'T GO HOME TILL MORNING.-About two
o'clock Saturday morning, a parly of revellers,
who were making night hideous at the corner
of Meetlug and Queen si reels, quarrelled
among themselves, and began to fight lt out.
One, who could hardly stand, held himself up
against the fist of another, and the pair were
thus discovered by the vigilant Clubs and Star?,
who was attracted by the noise ot the fray.
The two were taken to the Guardhouse, and
having been brought before the Mayor, each
paid up his fine of one dollar for their frolic.

UNITED STATES COURT.-The District Court
wats opened at eleven o'clock Saturday morn?
ing, Hon. Geo. S. Bryan presiding.
On the petition of Louis D. Shapiro 4 Co.,
creditors, Charles Hyman was duly adjudged :
a bankrupt, and was ordered within five days
to deliver to the marshal schedules and inven- ;
tories ot his property as prescribed by law.
By agreement the bankruptcy ol Jas. U.
Adams was held to be involuntary, Mrs.
Shoolbred's lien to ba released as a lien, but 1
stand as a determination of tho amount due
her, and proof ol the same without the credit
of S35,000 arising from thc conveyance to her (
by Jos. U. Adams, should said conveyance be |
set aside by the court.
The petition of John English for the invol?
untary bankruptcy of D. H. Smith was dis- ;
missed, and the balance of the petitioner's
claim wah ordered to be paid over to him
after deducting the costs as taxed by the clerk.
The bankruptcy of Jos. U. Adams was de- ,
deed to date from the filing of the petition in
voluntary bankruptcy, and the succeeding
questions were dismissed.
Ex parte Caroline Garner in re Gilbert Gar
ner, bankrupt. The previous order on the
claim ot the petitioner to certain trust funds in
the bankrupt's estate was revoked, and the
injunction against the sale of the Sand HB1
place waa dissolved. The assignee was
further ordered to sell the Sand Hill tract on j
the sales-day In March next on the same terms
as set forth in the previous order. Adjourned
until eleven o'clock this morning.

CLUBS AND STARS.-Henry Draine, for raising
a disturbance in Horlbeck's alley, and after bis
arrest in the Guard Hoose, was sentenced to
pay a fine of five dollars or spend twenty days
lu the House of Correction.
William Brady and Peter Gillis?, for disturb?
ing the peace Friday night in Elliott street by
shouting murder, were each fined ten dollars.
Andrew Simons, for disorderly conduct and
fighting a policeman at the circus on Friday
! afternoon, was sentenced to pay a fine of five
I dollars or spend ten days in the House ot Cor
' rection.
Two cows and a drunken individual, found
wanderiag about the streets and unable to take
care ot themselves, were all taken and fined
one dollar each.
