FOB THE WEEK ENDING THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14.
THE CROPS.-The period under review has been
dry and moderately cold, with good conditions
for the performance of agricultural work. Plant?
ers having pretty well gleaned their fields, will
commence now to make arrangements to prose
cure the business of the coming year to the beat
advantage, and we shsli record matters of Inte
rest In this regard as they occur.
. THE RECEIPTS.-The arrivals at the co* ton ports
for the week np to Friday last were 105,839 bales
against 122,126 the week before and 152,321 for
the period last year. At Kew Orleans the receipts
were 85,415 bales and 67,114 the year previous.

moderate, arnon ting to some 15,000 bushels.

Carolina, among which were 13 tierces at 7Kc,
147 at 7X. 87 at 7K. 7 at 7 9-16. 215 at 7?i, 63 at
711-16.116 at 7X. 20 at 7X, 14 at 8,15 at 8M, 20 at

NAVAL STORES -These articles come forward
in a moderate way, the arrivals being .-.bout 2000
bbls or all kinds for this time. The business has
been moderate, but the market has shown a Crra
character. The transactions for the week were
about as rollows : On Friday. December 8, there
were no sales reported On Saturday, December
9. sales 200 bbl3 rosin, say43 bbls low Ko 1 at $6,
88 bbls extra No 2 at $5, lie bbls low No 2 at $4 25,
and 50 bbls spirits turpentine on private terms.
On Monday? December Tl, sales of resins 700 bbls,
viz : 16 bbls low No l at $8, 69 b'.ls extra No 2 at
$5. 447 bbls No 3 to extra No 2 at $4 15?$5 fi bbl:
no sales of spirits. On Tuesday, December 12,
there were no sales reporte I. On Wednesday,
December 13, sales of rosins 600 bbl?, say 103 bbls
low paleto extra No 1 at $6 50?$7 59, 500 bbls No
3 to low No 1 at $4 lo@f6: also 30 barrels
spirits turpentine at 61 cents per gallon. On
Thursday, December 14th, the market for
rosins continued very fl m, particularly for the
lower grades, and all 0 ce red found ready buyers.
Some 400 barrels black No 3 and low No 2 sold
at $4, $4 15 and $4 25. Spirits also snowed
more life, and sales were made of ooo barrels at
60c, leaving litte or no stock on the market.
.Crude turpentine was quoted at $5 25 for virgin,
$5 for yellow dip and $3 30 ? r scrape.
HAT.-The receipts were unimportant, and the
business was generally or a retail character. A
small lot or North Carolina, per railroad, sold at
$160 9 hundred.
CORK.-The supplies during this period were
limited, ssy about 1500 bushels. Jobbing Io's of
prime white, from new to old, may be quoted at
$i@i 05 ft bushel, sacks included. A small lot of
Western white a >ld at 95c, sacks Included.
OATS.-In the absence of Important recelpti,
the transactions were mostly tn a retail way.
About 500 bushels sold at 66c per bushel.
PEAS.-Limited lots are coming to hand, which
sell at $1 30? 1 35 * bushel for clay.
FLOCR.-Dealers are well supplied with most
qualities of this article with a fair city and coun?
try trade doing. Northern and Western super

ber 13: There does not appear to be anything like
a speculative riding on this market, and the
pr?vaut: g business ls confined almost eotlrely to
the regular dally waats or the trade. The gene?
ral feeling, however, la quite Arm, and sellers In?
different operators. Advices from the South
seem to indicate not only a present small supply,
but light receipts for some time to come, and
this continues to act as a strengthening influence.

learn of few export orders at hand. The move?

very firm at a shade better pnces. The Inquiry
continues brisk, and sales to-day are reported or
500 bbl-, In merchantable order, at 65a65X. and
iso bbls at 66c. closing at 65Xe for merchantable.
Rosins-The market ia moderately active for
strained at Arm prices. Fine grades are held
(Irmly, with a fair demand. Sales are 1000 bbls
strained, delivered, at $4 95, and soo bbls pale at
$7as 25. Strained In yard offering at $4 90. We
quote strained at $4 95a6, No 2 at $5 10a6 50, No I
