THE-CROPS.-The weather during the early part
of-this period was hot and dry, but tinco good
jaine have j)?en bad in many sections of this
"Sate; but the late provision crop has been largely
.curtailed by the prevalence of the drought. The
cotton is reported to be much Injured m localities
by the^xcessive dry F^eiL The extremely warm
and dry season ls forcing the plant forward, and
In add ?tion to several bales of the new crop from
Texas arrivali or a Single bale each ara reported
from' Louisiana, F.orlda and Georgia.
THE RECEIPTS.-The supplies at the colton
ports for the week up to Friday last were 10,472
.bales, against 10,900 the week before, and 5740 the
time of the season previous. At New Orleans the
arrivals were 4035 bales, in contrast with 918 bales
last year. Thc total, receipts at the cotton ports
fro^?Septemb?r J, 1870, u? to?ihe latest mair
dates were 3,973,649 bales, and 2,880.882 the year
previous-showing an increase of 1,092,6*7 bales.

SEA ISLAND COTTON;-The arrivals of this quali?
ty of the '.staple were only 2 bags of Carolina
mains per Norchesstern Railroad. The market ex?
hibited very quiet features, and no transactions
took place. Quotations nominal.
RICK.-A limited supply of Carolina rough came
to hand, say about 1500 bushels. The business In
this grain was light, good qualities showing firm?
ness, while others were quiet. The transactions,
were about 250 tierces of clean Carolina, among
which were 28 tierces at aj?, 8 at 7S', 37 at 7K, 65
at 8X.50 at s Kc fl lb. We quote common to fair at

of new crop or Louisiana was received at New Or?

NAVAL STORKS.-The supplies coming to hand
were moderate, and amounted to abont 3000 bb ls
of all kinds for this period. The market opened
quiet and dull, the offers of buyers were below the
views of sellers; but later more activity prevailed
In rosins. The business or the. week was as fol?
lows: On Friday and Si curd ay, the 4th and 6th
instant, no transactions took place. On Monday,
August 7th, sales or rosins 404 bbls, say pale at
