from Georgetown for this city, airnck upon a
sunken wreck off Long Island on Saturday after?
noon, and with her cargo proved a total loss. She
left Georgetown last Thursday morning, about 3 I

bales of cotton, -and some naval stores, bound for
this city? After experiencing heavy weather out?
side, she arrived off' Long Islam'1, and about 4

wreck about one mlle . ir om the beach and three
miles south of Dewees's inlet. The boat was un?
der a full head of steam, and the wreck, which
the'captain says was a floating one, was not seen
until it was right under the bow of the steamer
and too late to prevent the collision. The Manl?
gault sprung a bad leak, and filling rapidly with
water, the captain headed towards the shore for
tbe purpose of beacblng.her. She worked np'un?

about two and a half fat ho rc s ol water. Her up?
per deck was about two feet out of the water, and
all on board succeeded in reaching the shore In
boats with_ a few articles from the decks, ropes,
life preservers, AA. Part of the orew reached the
city yesterday. TSe steamer Emilie went down j
to the wreck yesterday morning at 10 o'olock and j
found the upper- deck washed away and the
smoke stack' gone. The wreck was breaking np
rapidly, and -finding nothlog could be done, the
Emilie returned to the city. The steamer was
owned by Mr. A. Morgan, of Georgetown, and ls
a total loss. ^_
