Te Serenade.
Te meiden locked from her lattyce
On ye howlers down below.
AB they stood tunln' their voices
At mldnygntte In a row;
In a row beneath her lattyce,
with ye tenor at ye head
A pallyd youth who ought to nave
Been "Put m hys little bed P
And now ye viols sounded,
And ye flute on ye mlflnyghtte air;
And dysmal noyses went walling out
From hym ol swarthy hair.
He called her bys Bnn, hyB light, bys Btar,
And ly kened her to ye moon;
And ye viols, and Ante, aad ye light guitar
Took np and echoed ye tune.
And ye longer he sung ye louder
Bys voyce was pyebed and hygher;
"He clasped hyB hands where his heart should be,
And In verse swore bys heart was on fire I
Then ye maiden B'myled a pensive smyie, . - - -
And went to her lyttlestand;
And appeared In whyte at ye lattyce,
With a ewer in each hand.
"Then ye howlers grew more frantic !
And fiercer ye music grew l
Bat on to their heada cold water
She very deftly threw.
Te fyre was quenched, and ye tumult
Waa over and was sti !,
And naught was Been of ye howlers.
