tions of the Interior has been unfavorable to cott
ton, arid the plant ap to this time presents an in?
different appearance. The weather daring the
past wet k has, however, been wa-rn, with occa?
sional showei s, and should hace been propitious
when the growth was not past redemption.
THE RECEIPTS -The arrivals at the cotton ports
for the week up to Friday last were 40,178 bales,
against 45,067 tue week previous, and 30,737 last
season. At New Oiieans the receipts were 17,100
bales in contrast with 10,465 bales the wet k of the
year before. The total supplies at the cotton-portB
from September 1, 1870, np to the latest mail dates
were 3,747,304 bales, against 2.748,269 the season
previous,showing an increase of 999,035 bales.
