ROBBERT AT TUE CHARLESTON HOTEL.-On Sunday last William T. Smoot, au employee at the Charleston Hotel, was set to work cleaniug out the safe In the office, which contained sundry valuable papers, and among ot: er things a pock? etbook with two hundred aud seventy-five dollars la lt, deposited by a boarder. Soon after Smoot had finished the work, the gentleman called for his pocketbook, and on its being handed to bim he found lt had been tampered with and eighty five dollars in currency abstracted. Smoot was subsequently seen with a large amount ol money ii lils possession, and this, with the other suspi? cious circumstances, led to his arrest. He was brought before Trial Justice Levy yesterday arter noon, and altera thorough examination or the case committed to jail to await his trial tor grand larceny at thc next term of the Court or Genend Sessions. ROYAL ROW AT A PICNIC-A BLOODY Fleur -LIST or THK WOUNDED.-Ou Monday last a pic? nic was given by some of our enterprising colored citizens, at the well known Giobs's farm, in the suburbs of tho city, on Ashley River.
