THE CROPS.-There were good rains early in the
week, with dry and seasonable bot somewhat
boisterous weather since, the time being propi?
tious for planting, which l? now taking place
generally. In this State reports state that, In
many sections, the?e will be a reduction of about
one-fourth In the area placed in cotton.
THE REC KITTS.-Tte arrivals at the cotton
ports for the week np to Friday last, were 64 JCS
bales, against 67,643 bales the week before, sind
12,760 bates for the time la" t season. At New Or*
leans the receipts were 25,473 bales, In contrast
with 17,496 bales the week-of the season previous.
The total supplies at the cotton ports from Sep?
tember 1, 1870, np to the latest mall dates, were
3,428,659 bales, against 2,482,843 bales last year,
showing an Increase of 945,816 bales.
