THE CHARLESTON BOARD OT
TRABE.
The fl?th anniversary of tue Charleston Board
of Trade, was celebrated^ yesterday: -Thejpolla
wer) open between the boors of ? and 4P. M.,
and during the same hoars a ooUation was serv?
ed. This collation might jost as well have been
called a dinner. It comprised all the delicacies
and substantial viands to be found'in the market,
and did great credit to the caterer, Mr. Louis
Kanacke,.already well-known to fame as a eordon. ]
OTSM of the cuisine. The collation was the only
circumstance willoh broke the monotony ef the
vote for officers of the board. There was a charm -
in g. unanimity of sen: anent, and only one-set of j
candidates was presented to the members.
At night the business meeting was held, and
the newly Sleeted officers 'were j installed,
healthy tone characterized the *proceedings! The J
members seemed determined that they would not
'rest content with the fact that they have the
finest clab-honse and reading rooms In Charles?
ton. The; appeared to realize, In a practical way,
that they mast work for the good of the city, and
enable ber light to shine, with proper brilliancy,
before all like bodies In America.: The members
evidently thean work, and their new officers, lt ls
pot doubted, will spur them on in the race of com?
mercial usefulness. With a new year, the board
turnover a new leaf. Long may they wave !

he had in bia pocket) The party went- to c h u rc h

Bennett found himself nunns tiso. Upon bia
affidavit a warrant waa Issued by the trial Justice
against the two men, in executing which the con?

O'Donnell, who attempted to use bia knife. After
a partial examination, lt was found that another
party was implicated, and a warrant being Issued
for his irres t. the further e lamination was post?
