Planters have been taking the earlier steps towards the engagement of labor and the procuring of supplies,* but arrangements have not generally progressed sufficiently to in? dicate their Influence on the crop to be planted. In cases where full supplies of corn are needed factors show an indisposition to make liberal ad? vances.
