TESTIMONY. We have heretofore repeatedly given to the public our deductions as to thc truth of the proposition, that Vie elements of fertility as they are prepared and com? bined in SOLUBLE PACIFIC GUANO, constitute a fer? tilizer of the highest excellence. We have also, from season to season, laid before the public the testimony of a large number of disinterested, competent witnesses, the results of separate individual experience, as addi? tional evidence to the truth of our proposition. Without repeating our deductions, we now present an array of testimony, in the form of evidence re? sulting from recent experience, which confirms all, and more than all, we have heretofore claimed. " TWO OR THREE witnesses" are usually assumed to be sufficient to establish truth ; here we give many times two or three ; hence, if it is not true that this Guano possesses the highest excellence as a concentrated fer? tilizer, human testimony nnd rational deductions com? bined, no longer constitute evidence of truth. We invite the careful attention of all interested in the subject, to the following voluntary, disinterested testimony, in thc form of CORRESPONDENCE. I have used it for two years, and with good results ; having paid me, I think, from 100 to 150 per cent. I think two hundred pounds ap? plied to the acre, on land well prepared and worked, will yield one hundred per cent, over tbe natural sou. I sholl use it another year. I notice that where the Guano was applied last year nnd suffered from drought, that, with good season this year, the yield was doubled. (Signed) H. M. SALE. I tried it with other Guanoes, and found it equal to thc best, and far superior to some I used that cost the st?me meney. I used it on i of an acre of land in a 50 acre field, at the rate of 200 lbs. per acre, and have {?eked over 1300 lbs. from the same and will get 400 bs. more, which is 50 ? (125) per cent, over the natural soil' asl left the same quantity of land adjoining and have only picked 400 lbs. from it, and will get 350 more. ADAIR & BRO , Agents Pacific Guano Co., Atlanta, Ga. : Your favor to hand, asking information in regard to my experience with the Soluble Pacific Guano, I bought of you. In answer I have to sa}' it hasgiven entire satisfaction. I applied 6 tons of the Guano to my cotton in the drill, at the. rate of 175 pounds per acre. The land was very thin and poor, (an old sedge field.) I willmake an average of 750 lbs. seed cotton per acre. The crop has been fully doubled by its use. The same land, without Guano, I do not think, would make over 250 lbs. per acre. I have used,., a variety of fertilizers, and believe the Soluble Pacific Guano equal, if not superior, to any other iu use-fully equal to the Peruvian on cotton. ADAIR & BRO., Agents Pacific Guano Co., Atlanta, Ga. : In answer to your inquiries, I have to say I ap? plied the Soluble'Pacific Guano I bought from you last spring, to my cotton in the drill at the rate of 200 lbs. per acre, on poor, sandy, pincy-woods land f that ha3 been well worn, and liave gathered about 1,000 pounds seed cotton per acre from the guanoed .land, while tho unguauoed did not yield over 800 lbs. seed cotton per acre. It matures the crop three weeks earlier, and gives cutir? satisfaction. I think it equal to an/ Guano in use-Peruvian not excepted. (Signed) GEO. S. COBB. ADATR & BRO., Agents Pacific Guano Co., Atlanta, Ga. : Yours of recent date, making inquiries in regard to my experience with Soluble Pacific Guano, is at hand. I have used it for several years, and am now fully convinced it is superior to any I have used. I used other fertilizers this year by the side of the Pacific, and must admit, while all benefited the crop, the Pacific was about 50 per cent, ahead of any other. I applied it to Cotton in the drill, at thc rate of 200 lbs. per acre, on my thinnest land, (grey land, that has been cultivated fifteen years,) and have made 1500 lbs. seed cotton per acre. The un guanoed land in the same field will not make over 250 lbs. seed cotton per acre. The crop matures much earlier from its use, and I am satisfied it has paid me well, even at the low price of cotton. I want more Pacific next year. (Signed) WM. 3ST. MCCONNELL. I used it at the rate of 200 lbs. per acre, and will gather 900 lbs. cotton per acre, as an average, but have some acres that will rai. ahead of this, i applied 400 lbs. of Soluble Pacific Guano to three fourths of an acre that, I believe, will make 2,000 lbs. HENRY WOODS & Co., Agents Pacific Guano Co., Savannah, Ga. : I am just in receipt of your letter, and with pleas? ure I'll answer your inquiries concerning Soluble Pacific Guano. Last year I used Peruvian Guano, Land Plaster and Bono Dust, mixed. I noticed some of my neighbors who were usiDg the Soluble Pacific Guano, and I thought I would use it on a small scale. I bought two tons for a tenant (who runs a one-horse farm) and applied about 200 pounds to the acre on very poor land. I think we will gather between fifteen and eighteen bales of Cotton, and I am confident wt could not have made more than seven or eighf bales without it. I am sorry I didn't usc it on my entire farm, for I can safely say it is the best fertilizer I have ever seen used in this section. The cotton has looked fresh and growing, where it was applied, from the time it came up to the present day. I expect to use ten or fifteen tons of it next year. (Signed) , JAMES E. BOOTHE. HENRY WOODS & Co., Agent* Pacific Guano Co., Savannah, Ga. : I used Sol lblc Pacific Guano on Corn, at the rate of 200 pounds per acre, with 20 bushels of cotton Reed, on old gray land which had been in cultivation for the last fi?'ty years. The result was a yield of 25 bushels per ticre, where, without thc Guano, the yield would have been but 5 bushels. I used the Soluble Pacific Guano at the rate of about 250 pounds per acre, with about 20 bushels of cotton seed, an Cotton. The result was rapid growth in the carly part of thc season. These lands were also gray, and had been in cultivation 30 years. It was picked about the 15lh of September. The result was 1100 pounds per acre. The July crop was very heavy, but owing to an excess of rains, the first week in August, it threw off all the crop for that month, but it is now growing vigorously. I have also tried Soluble Pacific Guano on turnips, and I think they arc the finest I have ever had, for the time that they have been planted. (Signed) W. V. W. HUTCHENS. I used at the rate of two hundred pounds Guano per acre. I have already gathered eleven hundred pounds seed cotton, per acre, and I think I will get two or three hundred pounds, per acre, more. While on the unmnnured land, same kind, same field, same cultivation, I have gathered very little, and I dont think it will make more than, three or four hundred pounds seed cotton per acre. I think 1 would stand some chance of gettiug your premium. Would certificates from disinterested parties, based on their judgments, after having examined the prem? ises, be sufficient ? GEER : We submit the following as thc result of an im? partial investigation of a cotton lot, pointed out hy you, containing about six acres, a portion of said lo! being manured with u Soluble Pacific Guano," an the remainder not manured, and by counting eve y boll for fifteen measured feet, at different places, i. adjacent rows, we fiud that while the unmanured produced the average number of 46 bolls, that rows containing the fertilizer produced, side by side, the average number of 326 boUs. The yield from same is 8 bales cotton, of 500 pounds each. From the same amount of land where I did not apply fertilizers I got only 400 lbs. seed cotton per acre. I cheerfully recommend the Soluble Pacific Guano as possessing valuable fertilizing qualities, and fully equal to your representations. The undersigned, entering as a competitor for the "Special Premium" offered by Mr. J. O. Mathewson, "for the greatest yield of cotton over the natural soil," on 5 acres, by the use of Soluble Pacific Guano, &c, &c, would respectfully submit the following, as the results of yield, increased pro? duct, &c, of ten acres of land, cultivated the present year, and manured with " Soluble Pacific Guano," applied at the rate of 280 pounds per acre. The same being likewise entered for Premium offered by "Cotton States Agricultural Association" for "best 10 acres Upland Cotton," " original fertility of land to be taken into consideration." The undersigned proposes to enter, for Special Pre? mium offered by Mr. M., five acres of the ten referre? to, thc yield to be approximated, by average product, increase yield, &c, of same, viz: Actual and estimated amount of cotton, produced the present year, on 10 acres of upland, with application of 280 lbs. I planteil 23 acres of old and new ground, and applied the 3,000 lbs. in proportion of 125 to 200 lbs. per acre, (aver? age 130 lbs. per acre), and the yield will be fully ten hales cotton weighing 500 pounds each. * * * On the same land last year, without fertilizers, I got four bales cottou. Simms, was used on old thin land, at the rate of 200 pounds per acre, on cotton in thc drill. It matured early. I have no hesitancy in recommending the Soluble Pacific Guano as one of the best fertilizers. The yield of cotton I was from 000 to OOO pounds seed cotton, per acre. ! ADAIR SS BRO., Agents Pacific Gitano Co., Atlanta, Ga. : Your favor received, and in reply I say that I used about 1400 lbs. of your Soluble Pacific Guano, on cotton in the drill, at the rate of 200 pounds per acrer on both eld and new land, and the yield I think about double.
