THE DEAD SENATOR_The Radicals have taken the ground from the beginning that not? withstanding the death of W. H. MLhaw, which occurred the day previous to the election, he was daly elected senator from Charleston County, am, arguing from these premises, it is expected that an election will shortly be ordered to fill the vacancy. The different aspirants for political preferment are already in the Held bard at work -wire pulling and log rolling to secure the nomina? tion. Among the candidates for thc Radical nomination, we learn that Mr. L. Bunch, trial jus? tice, and Mr. E. Bay na rd Sebarook, acting solici? tor for this circuit, are the most prominent. Three boys who were arrested In St. Paul's Parish for voting, not being of lawful age, were re? leased upon ball to appear for further examina? tion. Bowen, lodged for being drunk and disorderly in a ball-room In Queen street, was sentenced to pay a fine of $5, or go to the House of Correction for ten days. G. Timothy Warton and John Bryer, reported Tor trading and selling horses without a license, got off free, owing to some technical wording in the law. A horse and dray, round going at large on East Bay at half-past 10 o'clock Tuesday night, were lodged in the Stationhouse yard to be delivered, to the owner. The report or "the as? signee was read and confirmed. SOODEN DEATH OF MCMILLAN KING, ESQ. This promising young lawyer died at his resi? dence, in this city, about 10 o'clock on Tuesday night. Mr. King was well known In Charleston, and was esteemed and respected as a man or spotless integrity, patient study and consider? able ability. He was a native or Charleston, and was educated at .he Charleston College, which In? stitution he left In order to volunteer In the Con? federate service. In the army he won an enviable repntation.rislng by promotlonfrom a second lieu tenantcy to a captaincy or regnlars,servlng at Fort Sumter, Battery Wagner and elsewhere In the de? fences around Charleston. He was also severely wounded at the battle or Averysboro, North Caro? lina. After the war he began to Btudy law, and was admitted to the bar about two years ago. He was admitted Into the copartnership with Messrs. Campbell A Seabrook, and was a member of the firm at the time or his death. A few months since, Mr. King contracted country fever while on a visit to the Savannah River, and the Immediate cause of his death was a congestive chill, result? ing from this attack.
