PERSONAL-MT. T. W. Stanland requests us to s.iy that lie gives a public denial to i he report tiiat he voted the Radical ticket at the recent election. Mr. Stanland says that he did all that he could for the success of the Reform party, and that during the wbole of election day he worked at the first precinct of Ward 5 with Mr. James A. Moseley, who will corroborate this statement. AK?RAT IN ABBEVILLE.-A Radical paper is Informed that a bloody affray took place In Abbe? ville County on Thursday last. It appears that i Mr. Cook, and three of the Tolberts, all white, and residents of "Dark Corner," were engaged in a settlement, but not agreeing upon the ligures, words arose, when Cook, thinking the odds against him too great, drew his revolver and shot one of the Tolberts dead on the spot, and se? riously wounded another. The third took to his legs and escaped. A SORPitiSE.-Solomon Happy, a name well known in the Court of General Sessions, and Wil? liam Griffin with several others, were having a quiet little game on Sunday evening in an old boat lying at,Patton's wharf, at the foot of Hasel street, winn they were disturbed by the sudden Interruption of .the detectives. The gamblers were so deeply engaged that they did not hear the officers until they leaped from'the wharr among them. Before they recovered from their aston? ishment, Happy and Griffin were each collared, while, tu? others made their escape by jumping overboard and swimming to the adjacent wharf. The two' arrested were turned over to the State Tdr^roseoutlon."" ', ' ', ^_ '. ORDINATION OF THE -BBV. H. S. WINGARD.- ; The ordination of Mr. H. S. Wingard as a minister ! of the Gospel according to the faith of the Evan? gelical Lutheran Church, took place last evening at St. John's Church. There was quite a large congregation, and many of the members of the Luteeran^flynod, lately in session here, were pre? sent. ThV'Rev. T. S. Bolnest delivered an able and Interesting sermon, selecting as his text the S?th-verae of t?ie 24th chapter of Genesis: "Hinder nianot, seeing the Lord hath prospered my way." .".^rrfce"charge was delivered to the candidate by the Rev. ACADEMY OF Music.-The Marietta Ravel troape opened at the Academy last'everitngin the military drama of "The French Spy, or the Fall of Algiers."
