Mororr OK BOARD, THE BRIO CONCORD.-A Gelling, J. OorUero, S. Williams and. John Pnuilps, sailors ofthe.brig-Concord, were arrested yes? terday afternoon for mutiny, at the Instance of the captain. These men had deserted about a month ago, but were arrested and taken back to the brig ; since then they have refused to work, and as the captain wished to sail for Philadelphia in a few days, he bad them arrested for mutiny. THE MACON JOURNAL.-Mr. Robert Mitchell, the agent of the Macon Daily and Weekly Jour? nal, is in the city on business connected with his .paper, and will visit our merchants soliciting ad? vertisements. The Macon and Augusta Railroad will be 'opened in about thirty days, and the present opportunity ts an exceedingly favorable one for our merchants to extend their business lathe thriving city of Macon and its vicinity. DIFFICULTY AT THE DETECTIVE OFFICE_We leara that a difficulty occurred at the Detective office last evening, between Officers Lovltt and Burke, m which the ronner shpt at the latter with a pistol, narrowly missing him. The dlf? ct?ty la said to have o rig mated about a prisoner who had been arrested by Lovltt. Officer Burke appears to have been in the discharge of his duty. We are informed that Lovltt and Officer Maro ofaetti, who was implicated, will be discharged from the detective force this morning. A NOTABLE IMPROVEMENT.-The large store -on the northwest corner of Cumberland and East Bay streets, recently purchased by Messrs. Wm. M. Bird A Co. for the better accommodation or their increasing business, has recently had a thorough overhauling at the hands of Mr. John , H. Devereux. The entire south wall has been ] polled down and rebuilt, and the granite columns . on the front are now being removed, and will be ( replaced by substantial iron columns of the Doric order. The interior has been fitted op to ault the paint and oil business. ,. CCIJRS AND STARS.-Isaac Grant and Alfred Bryan have been arrested on suspicion or having beeo implicated in a recent robbery, and are held for examination. Daniel Omard and James Doar were sentenced ? to pay $5 or go to Jail for ten day \ for assaulting the police on the day or the eleotlon. J. H. Klenke, W. H. Schroeder, and E. Klein/ were bound over to appear at the state Court, fur selling liquor on election day. Richard Maniganlt and Robert Artopee were each sent to Jail for tea days Tor ligating In Mar? cel street. In the coarse of the day a uegro man named Cyras Smith, in the employ ?r Mr. Lake Smith, to whom he formerly belonged, walking past the stacked arms, uni dreaming or deing any wrong or inf ringing any command, was hailed by these sentries. Not understanding their intent, and knowing that they bad not the faintest Shadow ol authority for attempting to halt him, he walked on, and was therefor brutally shot down dead. Th P sentry who discharged the fatal shot has been lodged In jail at this place. His name ls Joe Yarborough.
