- xad tata ls the end of lt all '. lt rounds the year's
completeness;
Only a waite to the stile, through fields afoam with
sweetness;
Only the snnset light, purple and red on the
JJ river;
And a lingering, low good night, that means good?
bye forever.
i so be lt ! and God be with yon l It bad been per
i haps more kind
. i Baa yon sooner (pardon the word) been sure of
knowing your mind.
We can bear so mach in youth-who cares for a
swift, sharp pain ?
. And the two-edged Bword of truth cuts deep, but
it leaves no stain.
I shall just go back tn my work-to my ht tie
household cares,
: That never make any show. By times, perhaps
In my prayers,
I may thank you ! For the rest, on this way we've
trodden together
- Ky foot (?hall rall as lightly as ir my heart were a
feather l
And not a woman's heart! Strong to have and
to keep,
. Patient when children cry, soft to lull them to
sleep,
Hiding its secret close, glad when another's
hand
Finds for itseh* a gem where her's found only
sand.
' Good-bye! The year has been bright ! As oft as
the blossoms come,
The peach with its waxen pink, the waving snow
of the plum, ",
? I shall think I used to watch, so happy to see you
pass
' I could almost kiss the print or your foot on the
dewy grass.
' lam not ashamed of my lovel Tet I would not
' have your's now,
. ?'Though you laid lt down at my feet. 1 could not
stoop so low.
A love ls bnt half a love that contents itseirwith
less
.'. Than love's utmost faith and truth and unwaver
j. , lng tenderness.
- Only this walk to the stile; this parting word by
the river, *
That flows so quiet and cold, going and flowing
forever.
"Good-bye t" Let me wai? to hear the last, last

GLORIOUS CHANGE
That any^sick man survived the treatment
of fifty years ago, must be considered a proof
that human beings are very hard to kin
The lancet, calomel, cantharldes and drastic pur?
gatives were then the order of the day. The phy?
sician played into the hands of the apothecary,
and the nnfo-tnnate patient was drenched morn?
ing, noon and night with prostrating medicines.
We Uve in a more rational and conscientious era.
The importance of supporting Nature in its conflict
with disease ls now understood. Complaints in
themselves weakening are no longer aggravated
by artificial depletion. They are met with TONICS
that rally the vital powers and enable them to de?
feat the enemy. Chief among these slues or Na?
ture, In its battles with sickness, ls
PLANTATION BITTERS.
ThiB wonderful vegetable restorative 1* the sheet'
anchor of the feeble and debilitated. Asa cordial
for the aged and decrepld lt bas no equal among
stomachics. Aa a remedy for the nervous weakness
to which the tender sex are especially subject, it
ls superseding every other stimulant and nervine.
In all climates, tropical, temperate or frigid, jt
acts as a sp?cifie In every species of disorder
which undermines thc bodily strength tad
breaks down the animal spirits. Wherever ll
is introduced lt becomes a standard article
-a medicinal staple. Druggists, although their
profit upon lt ls small, find rt absolutely
necessary to keep a preparation for whioh
everybody inquires, and fqr which nobody
wm; aecept a substitute, rt ls to-day the most
popular medicine m the civilized world.
Extensivelf as lt is. advertised, tts best ad?
vertisement ls the beneficial result which
uniformly follows tts use. Every bottle sold lo?
sares the sale of at least half a dozen more. On.
ute other stimulants, lt braces and fortifies the
system without exciting undue cerebral action,
The cheering effect which lt produces upon the
mind is not momentary, but pcrmsntnt. There ls
no subsequent depression. It does not, as is the
case with all other stimuli, beget a craving for ex?
citants. On the other hand, ft Boothes and caima

The perfect purity of all Its Ingredients, their
admirable adaptation to the purposes they
are intended to ^subserve, the Judicious pro

the scientific skill with wbloh they are blend?
