Branchville on the 15th Instant:
The crop3 In this section of the country are
* looking extraordinarily fine. Both cotton and
corn (which latter now takes the lead) are
growing fast and show every prospect of a
good, yield next fall. The wet seasons that we
'are now having have caused some uneasiness
on account of the rapid growth of the grass;
but the farmers are yet masters of the situa
. i tion, and with a Ut tie energy can continue so
.! during the balance bf the season.
/The Kingstree Star says :
V. ~: Since the propitious seasons that we have
. been having for the past two weeks, the crops
are looking very promising. In conversation
with farmers from all parts of the district we
. are told that, as a general thing, the prospects
. - for a bountiful harvest ls better now than at
any time since the close of the war, and that j
With continued seasons a very large crop will
be made. The corn crop, especially, ls re- {
markably good. The month of Af ay was very
