During tue past week the market for all classes
or securities has been very dull. Fer sterling bills
the rate yesterday was 2C@20X for 60 day bilis.
In domestic exchange the banks were purchasing
sight checks on Kew York at par, and selling at a
X premium. Transactions in all kinds of ex
change have been very limited, ewing to the small

THE RECEIPTS.-The arrivals of cotton at the
Southern ports continued large, and ror the week
np to Friday last were 53,189 bales, iu contrast
with 66,726 the previous week, and 32.193 ror the
corresponding period last year. At New Orleans
the receipts were 23,822 bales, and eooo ror the
week last year. The total supplies received at
the ports since September l up to thc latest
dates wore 2,344,301 bales, against 1799,904 last j
year, showing an increase or 544,3r?7 hales.

NAVAL STOUPS.-Thc arrivals have been too
limited to afford a basts for transactions of Im?
portance. An increase in ldc supplies may be
looked for shortly. About loo bards rosins or
pile and extra pale qualities were sold at $4, $4 25,
$4 50 and *5 fy barrel. .
HAT.-There have been received about IC JV bales
of North River qualities, part of which was pass?
ing through for other markets. Some 400 bales of
North River was sold at si 70 per hundred, and
?noiher lot about '.he same In quality at $l SO per
per hundred.
COKN.-The arrivals have been moderate, say
about 10.COO bushels. Thc market early In the
week was quiet and jobbing lots of prime white
sold at $115 per bushel, but holders have since
advanced their rates io 5?t 20 per bushel, weight,

OATS.-The market is fairly supplied with this
grain. About 1500 bushels changed hands at 70c

ket has been easier In some grades, with a
moderate business doing. We quote Northern
and Western fine at $5 25 Tr* bbl; super nt $550y
