The Journal of Commerce of the 26th says:

In the first naif or the week was very doll, with
sales of only 200 bbis at 40*46Kc. Later we had
a more active business, 1200 bbis changing hands
at, 16347 new, 46 to arrive and 46Ka48 New York
bbis, closing strong at 46K&47 mer. Receipts 903
bbis. Exports 22? bbis.
ROSIN.-All grades have ruled very dull, and
good strained will not bring over $2. The sales
are 13.000 bbis, of which 10,000 are low grades.
Receipts 12,624 bbis. Exports 10,534. The market
for virgin rosin has not fully opened, and the few
small parcels received this month have made no
impression, and alford no criterion of probable
values. It ls however qalte evident that prices
must rule low as compared with last year as the
difference lu gold ls 2i per cent, on the average
of April, May. June and July. On the eve of a
new season, we Invite the attention of distillers
to the necessity of greater care than usual in put?
ting up rosin, so that the quality In each barrel
will be uniform. Neglect In this respect subjects
