"THE RECEIPTS, Ac-The weekly receipts at the
cotton ports up to Friday last show a marked
falling off, and were 88,311 bales, against 101,093
bales the week previous, and 70.957 bales for the
corresponding week the year before.

The Norfolk Journal of the" 19th Inst, says corn
has arrived pretty freely-to the extent of about
30,000 bushels. The week begun at about 88a9lo
for white and yellow; but, under a good demand,
it has run up to 95a9Cc for good dry white forshlp
ping, at which lt closed, the weather to-day, how?
ever, preventing any transactions. Coastwise
vessels are scarce aud much wanted.

this port, on the 18th instanr, has on board a

day last, has thc following: "A private letter re?
ceived In this city from Beaufort, N C, dated Ulli
instant, stales that on the 12th live boats from
that port boarded the wreck of sehr George A
Mary, from New York for Charleston, before re?
ported ashore on Cape Lookout Shoals, and took
from her a cat, dog and all the sails except the
foresail and Jib. and they were split and washed
to pieces. It the weather permitted, a party of
men were to go on board on the 13th, to try and
save thc rigging and cargo.
