The market for shipping yarns is very strong,
and again a large business has been done at very
extreme prices, spinners being very full or orders,
-with contracts extending sume time forward.

nave a difficulty intaking orders except ror de?
livery weeks hence. Home trade yarns are not
selling briskly, because spinners require an ad?
vance of .?4d. per lb. on the prices of yesterday,
which is not obtainable. Our cloth market has
been exceedingly Urm since Tuesday, with a good
Inquiry. The advance in cotton and yarn has re?
sulted in an increase or quotations by makers ot/
cloth, which lt ls found that buyers arc very un-'j
willing to pay. Producers, however, ure very '
firm in consequence of heavv engagements. To?
day, the advance checks business; but lt is main

plies from Southern ports, there ls a tendency to
longer prices, although many believe that thc mar?
ket has about touched thc lowest point.*The*ales

gulf-the market closing quiet at these prices.
DOMESTICS.-Tile market for cotton goods is
firm at the recen advance, and desirable styles
arc sold close up, with the prospect of a further
advance when Hie demand improves. In woollens
there is no improvement, and for nearly all kinds
the market rules low and prices unsatisfactory.
The spring trade, however, is likely to bring
about a favorable change.
GI'NNY BAOS.-There ls avery firm feeling for
bags, and, with the stock tu few hands, pikes
vary from lC.iial7,l2'c for llzht and heavy.
CUNNY CLOTH.-Demand quite limited for cloth,

SAVANNAH. December 30.-COTTON.-To nil
intents and purposes the week under review has
beeu a holiday week, both tor buyers and sellers,
and the transactions have been limited in extent
compared witli the weeks previous. Purchasers
and holders have been so Tar uuart in their views
that only a pressure, liku the continued decline in
(?old, could bring them within an operative dis?
tance, consequently the sales have been light.
The wet weather too has operated unfavorably in
