A NEW SANITARIUM FOR AIKEN.-Dr. P. 0.
Rockwell, a physician of Waterbury, Conn., and
former Mayor of that place, has recently visited
Aiken, S. C., in company with Mr. B. P. Chatfield,
a master builder, to make arrangements for
building a sanitarium for invalids, under a ohar
icr granted by the Legislature. The plan under
consideration Is n large main building, surround?
ed by thirty handsome cottages, each divided Into
sections. The topography of Aiken, where there
arc not more than Uro or three houses on a block,

Rockwell bas attained considerable eminence In
his profession, and has always been successful In

Baltimore Gazette gives thc follow mg report of |

The decision appears to wholly cover the caso or
the South Carolina Railroad Company, and to
determine that its property cannot be taxed by

the Washington University, plaintiff In error, vs,

error to thc Supremo Court or Missouri. The

prevented a large attendance or ladles at the

with unflagging spirit. Miss Alexander, as Lady

expression. Thia lady Improves every day, and
gives evidence occasionally or a dramatic vigor
too frequently lacking when she first trod the
boards. Mr. O'Neil, usually a tender lover, came
out last night as "Thc Villain," John Drummond,

cal than as thc comedy gallant. Last, but not
least, Miss Eldridge acted with her customary
dashing effect.
To-night we have "Thc Streets or New York,"

thc Washington statue, a snow storm, the Five
