Liverpool middling. The uncertainty intending
thc policy of the Government In regard to its
financial arrangements has operated against Hie
colton market, aud although the President's mes?
sage bas foreshadowed what that policv will be,
a degree of inquietude has prevailed, which has
lad tte effect of stopping any large t ransaci ions
M this market. At the dose of last week's re?
view, Liverpool middling was firmly held at 24?
MXe, but the views of buyers and holders
were sc far apart that no transactions rc
salted, and salen reached 200 bales. The market
opened on Friday with a fair inquiry, holders and

closed quiet in consequence ot reliable advices,

day, December 4th, was an active day; buyers out
