Miss Alexander, who ls one of our own Southern gentlewomen, ls an at? tractive brunette, winning and relined In feature, and of lltho and graceful physique. Her voice is mellow and pleasant, and her acting, especially In tho lost acts, gave promise of great excellence. In thc opening scenes alic was a little wanting la warmth and feeling. Miss Eldridge, though young, hos been bred to thc stage, and showed that aha was a practiced as well as a careful actress. Tho roto of Naomi seemed especially welt suited to her style. The minor parts wcro performed BO uniformly well that we scarcely know what was most worthy of special mention. Poyntz and Beaufoy could hardly have bad better representatives than Messrs.
