A meeting of llio stockholders of the Peo ple's Hank of Charleston was hohl this day in the hall or the Hank or Charleston building. Mr. James Rlbbcs called Ilia meeting to or der, ami moved that Mr. Ccorge A. Tretinoin] be requested to preside, which was seconded and adopted. Mr. Juntos Globes then moved that the chair man appoint n secretary for lira meeting and a committee on proxies; which was agreed lo. The: chairman then appointed Mr. 11. Grim ball secretary, and Messrs. Joseph T. Dill and P. P. l.ocke bommitlee to verify proxies. The chairman then declared the meeting ready for business. Mr. Janu s 8. At that time there wus but little money in our community, and nn bank accommodation. Sensible of the pressing need, nnd anxious to nfiord to our people such nld as was in their power, Ihe board determined to open the bank, and '.villi the little capit al at their command, to make an effort to relieve the wants of our commerce. Tills action was approved by the stockhold ers at their meeting in June, IStiS.
