MASONIC FAIR_Notwithstanding the bad weather or yesterday, thc Fair was well at? tended, and thc crowd lost night was almost as large as at thc opening. Washington Lodge in thc head centre of the firemen, and the prizes displayed on their tnble are so handsome aa to tempt wining greenbacks even from those not connected with tito department. These prizes, consisting of hat, belt, trumpets, lanterns, hOBo, Ac, are all of the finest finish and most elaborate workmanship, and were procured at great ex? penso. Each company will be allowed one hun? dred chances, and the competition ls now quite lively. The refreshment tables were liberally patronized last night. Down stairs the votaries of Terpsichore wero moving in the merry danco to inspiring music, while tho rain pattered outside unheeded. Mr. Robert Graham, of the Mills House stables, turned out his full force or Omnibusses, and fow persons were subjected to the discom? forts of a wetting. BILL OP MORTALITY.-Tho mortuary report or thc past week shows a total or 20 deaths: whites ll, blacks and colored IS. ?or thc whites 0 were male and 3 female adults and 2 mole chil? dren. Thc blacks were 7 male and 6 female adults, 2 malo and 4 female children. Eleven of the deaths were between the ages or oo and loo, two or whom, both colored, died or old agc. Tua FIREMAN'S PRIZE at the Fair is creating a great deal or enthusiasm. The Hats or the va? rious companies are being rapidly filled up, and a most laudable rivalry exists among the varions firemen to see their respective organizations well repreaentcd in having their quota weU filled up. EX-ALDERMAN T. J. MACMT EXOLUDBD rm I M THE PETIT JDBT.-During the session of tho State Court, yesterday morning, Mr. T. J. Mackey, one of thc supernumerary petit jury? men, was discharged by Judge Carpenter from further service upon the panel, under circum? stances which arc reported to us as follows: Mr. Mackey had stated to the acting Solicitor that in the event of his trial upon the Indictment now pending against him being pressed during tho present term, he would ask to be excused from duty as a Juryman. Shortly afterward, the Soli? citor informed Mr. Mackey that, after a consulla Hon with Judge Carpenter, the latter had con? sented to excuse him rrom f uri her service. There? upon Mr. Mackey repudiated thc idea or having requested lo bo excused. Snbscquently Mr. Mackoy entered the court-room, while Mr. Sey? mour, tho counsel ror one Nixon, waa empanel? ling a Jury, lierore tho Jury was complete, Mr. Seymour, observing Mackey, requested that his name should be culled. Tho Judgo replied that Mr. Mackey had been excused. Thereupon thc latter arose and said that ho had only aaked tor an excuse in the event or a certain contin? gency, which had not occurred, and that he was now ready to fulfil his duties as a juryman. The Judge said that Mr. Mackey was entered as ex cuscd for thc whole term, and that, even had no request been made to that effect, he would have excused bim on his ow responsibility. Mr. Mackey asked whether he was relieved because of any misconduct on hin part. Tho Judge answered that he had observed the conduct of Mr. Mackey, and was of the opinion that he waa hot a flt and proper person to exercise, the respon? sible duties of a Juryman. Ile referred to tho cir cumstanco that Mr. Mackoy, during thc trial of Frnnk broughton for murder, last week, being then a juryman, had noddod assent to a proposi? tion which had been laid down by Mr. Sass, nf counsel for tho defence. This chargo was denied hy Mr. Mackey, but Judgo Carpenter decided that ho had thc anthorlty to remove Mr. Mackey, and, as a disponier or justice, would Uko tho rcapon atbllity of doing so.
