of the small ?tilt-i-lugs and better foreign news;
sales 2827 nt 26*<C. Tuesday, thc market was quiet
and unchanged: sales 1750. Wednesday, the mar?
ket was dull and easier; sales222fi nt 20),'c. Thurs?
day, there was more doing for export, hut nt
easier rates: sales 3?f.o at 20c. Yesterday, Hie
market closed at 25j;c for middling and 25,'ic for
low middling, nt which prices there was a fair
business done; sales 3002 bales.
Early in tho week prices advanced to 20.Vic but
since, under the decline in gold und lnrgc teciipls,
they roll cir to 257<c for middling. In Liverpool,
n large business lias been done ut nu advance of
!?d on uplands on Hie week. The cause of thc
movement in Liverpool may bc attributed to n
larger demand ror goods, thc stocks of which nrc
now comparatively small. The excess lu receipts
is now 125,621 bales, but thc stock ts only 37,207
bales more iii a n at this time last year. Exporters
have taken 74,400 bales more, and our spinners
18,778 tulles less than Inst year from thc ports.
Thc rivers tributary to New orleans and Mobile
are now up, on account ol thc heavy rains Inst
week, and t he receipts at those ports arc larger
in consequence.
