THH SURVIVORS' CONVENTION.-A conven? tion of the representatives of the different Sur vlvotafMssoclatlons throughout the State will be held in thia city on the 18th instant. General Hampton and other distinguished ex-Confederates are expected to be present. The object of the convention ls to form a State Central Associa? tion. MEDICAL COLLEOB.-Since the reopening of this institution the number of students has been somewhat augmented, and though far less than the attendance before the war, the prospect ls by no means discouraging. Hour after hour passed, and the hands still marked half-past ten. Housekeepers were dis? concerted, dinners wen jeopardized, and the community would have been demoralized if the error had not been discovered in time to keep the pot boiling. 11 I REMOVAL OF THE OFFICE OF THE EXPRESS COMPANY.-The One building recently erected in Hasel street, west of the Pavilion Hotel, wiu soon be occupied by the Southern Express Company, who will vacate their present office opposite the Charleston Hotel. The new building ls somewhat smaller in area, but the company will occupy both stories. Before the removal lt ls stated that a large number of unclaimed packages of various shapes and sizes will bc disposed of at auction, purchasers to bid blindly, pr, as an intelligent darkey remarked, "to tek 'e:n on tras If he does trow 'em.' A BARE ATTRACTION.-Seldom have the people of Charleston had an opportunity of feast? ing their eyes upon so attractive a collection of paintings as those which are to bc sold on Thurs day-by Messrs. Leitch A Bruns, at the southeast corner of Broad and Church streets. While the pistes are not all of equal excellence, there arc j j very few that are not far above the average of paintings that one sees now-a-days. The collec? tion will bc opened for thc Inspection of the public this morning, and the ladles particularly are in vt ted to call aud examine thc landscapes and other subjects that are to be offered for sale. PRIZES FOR THE STATE FAIR.-The mana? gers of the State Agricultural Fair have purchased from the establishment of Messrs. W. G. Whilden A Co. a variety of articles of silver-ware designed as prizes for the successful competitors In the va? rious departments. Thc prizes are all of solid silver, and are both useful and ornamental, cost? ing tn tie aggregate over $4000. Messrs. Whilden j ^ A Co. also furnished the prizes for the late Abbe- | - ville Fair. Certifi? cate of medals awarded. FAREWELL TO BISHOP LYNCH.-PARTIRO TES? TIMONIAL FROM HIS FLOCK.-At 8 o'clock, yester? day evening, the vestrymen of the several Catho lic-tuurches and a number of the personal friends of Bishop Lynch met at his residence, in Broad street, to bid him farewell before bis departure to attend the oecumenical Connell at Borne. After a pleasing interchange of greetings, M. P. O'Con nor, Esq., on behalf of those present, presented the Bishop with a handsome purse, the donation of some of the members of his diocese, and a tes? timonial of their regard and good wishes. Mr. O'Connor alluded to the desolation that over? spread the diocese at thc close of the' war, and showed that through the arduous labors of the Bishop much of the ruin of thc r>ast had already been repaired. lu bidding adieu upon this occa? sion, the pleasing duty wtts uevolved upon him to present a testimonial which was the free-will offering of the people of the diocese. The Bishop feelingly responded, thanking them for their gift. Though his labors had been ardu? ous, he had but followed the example of the Apostle Paul and thc Bishops of old, and his ap? peal for aid had been answerd. Some good had 'been done, but more remained to do. He only trusted that his health would bc equal to the task. He went to Rome at the cal! <;f the Sovereign Pontiff ofthe Hierarchy, ?md impelled by his vow. Some repose was also necessary after the labors of the past few years, and he hoped to return to his diocese In April or May In renewed health and vigor. The Bishop thanked his guests again lor the testimonial, and pronounced thc benediction, after which he bid them severally adieu, express? ing the hope of a speedy reunion. CRUMBS.-Thc fines imposed by thc Mayor yesterday morning amounted to $25. A meeting of the Survivors' Association will bc held this evening to make arrangements for the convention which will assemble in this city on thc 18th instant. A full attendance of the members ts requested. It is now stated that the indictment against cx Alderman T. J. Mackey in the Court of General Sessions, for assault and battery with intent to kill, has only been temporarily withdrawn, and will be returned with 3ome amendments. Well-authenticated icc was formed in the upper portion of the city yesterday morning. A deserter from the sehr. Lilly was arrested and taken on board yesterday by Officers Hernandez and Truall. TUE SOUTH CAROLINA COLORED CONSERVA? TIVE CI.CB.-A meeting of this organization was held last evening at Oppenheim's Hall, corner or King and Hudson streets. It was largely attended by the better class ol colored citizens, and several addresses were made urging co-operation in the movement, and showing thc evil results or Radi? cal government. The following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted : Whereas, The undersigned colored men of Charleston being now convinced of the corrup? tion, extravagance and inefficiency of thc present rulers of this State and city, and having discov? ered that under the disguise of doing good to the colored people, strangers have come here only to advance their own personal interests, but having really no affection for nor co-interest with us, and that many native Carolinians have joined them only for the purpose of obtaining a share of the spods; and being convinced that the great and unprecedented taxation, and other bad govern? ment under which we are now suffering, are the results of these men obtaining offices; and being convinced that our true and only friends are to bc found among the intelligent native gentlemen of this State, whom we have known all our lives and have never found them wanting when needed nor in time or trouble; and being convinced that our interests are identical with theirs, and that their prosperity is also ours; and being convinced that to them alone we have to look for a reorganiza? tion of our State and city governments, upon the bases of honesty and efficiency: and being fully satisfied that we will receive every justice at their hands, therefore, be lt Resolved, That we organize ourselves into a so? ciety, not to any party whatever owing any alle? giance, but for the only object of freeing our State and city from lu present corrupt miers and placing honest and capable men in their places. Resolved, That we do pledge ourselves never to vote for any Incompetent candidate, be he Repub? lican or Democrat, for any office whatever, but to use all our influence to defeat all such candidates, and elevating to office only onr own native and honest citizens and such others as our own gen? tlemen may, in their wisdom, see flt to recom? mend and support.
