Her Shadow.
Bending between ine und the taper,
While o'er the harp her white hand strayed,
The shadows m her waving tresses
Above my head were gently swuyeu.
"With every graceful movement waving,
I marked their undulating swell;
I witched them while they met and parted
Curled close or widened, rose or fell.
1 unshed In triumph und In pleasure
So strange the snort, so undesigned !
Her mother turned and asked me gravely.
"What thought was passing through my mtndP'
?Tis love that blinds the eyes of mothers?
Tis love that makes the young maids fair !
She touched my hand; my rings shecouuled;
Yet never felt the shadows there.
Keep, gamesome Love, beloved Infant,
Keep ever thus all mother* blind;
.And make thy dedicated virgins,
In substance and In shadow, kind.

WHAT MEDICINES
YOU TAKE.
When you are exhoustod by overwork of hend
or hand, nnd feel ihe need of something invigorat
ing, don't drink whfekvy or uuy intoxicating
ihmg, whether umlerihenaincof Hitters or other
wise. Such articles give just as much strength
to your weary body nnd mind ns the whip gives
to the Jaded horse, nml no more. Alcoholic stim
ulants are Injurious to nerve health, und are al
ways followed by depressing reaction.
DODD'S NERVINE AND INVIGORATOIt
Is n Tonic and gentle'silinulant, which is not at
tended by reaction." What It gains for you it
maintains. When It refreshes body or mind, it
refreshes with natural strength that comes to
stny. We are not recommending tcctotalism In
the Interest of any faction; luit long nnd extend
ed observation teaches us that he who resorts to
the bottle for rest or recuperation, will lind, as he
keeps at it, that he is kindling a tire in his bones
which will consume like the dames of perdition.
Turn from It. Take a tonic, thnt will refresh and
not destroy. DODD'S NERVINE is for sale by all
Druggists. Price One dollar. See book ofeortl

Those who have tried It, know that II cured them:
those who have not. know that It cures their
neighbors and friends, and all know that whui it
docs once it does always?thai It never fails
through any fault or neglect of its composition.
We have thousands upon thousand* of Hie certifi
cates of their remarkable cures of the following
complaints, but such cures are known In every
neighborhood, and wc need mil publish i hem.
Adapted to all ages and conditions in all climates;
containing neither calomel or any deleterious
drug, lliev mav be taken with safety by anybody.
Their sunkr coating preserves them ever fresh and
makes 'hem pleasant to take, while being purely
vegetable uo harm can arise from their use In any
quantity.
They operate by their powerful Influence on the
Internal viscera to purify the blood ami stimulate
it Into healthy action?remove the obstructions of
the stomach." bowels, liver, aud other organs of
Hie body, restoring llietr irregular action to health,
and by correcting, wherever they exist, Much
derangements as arc Hie 111 si origin of disease.
Minute directions are given in the wrapper on
the box, for the following complaints, which these
Pn.i_s rapidly cure:
For Dvsi'KfSiA or Indigestion*, LlSTLKSSXBSS.
Lanqcok and Loss of AreKTtTK, they should be
taken moderately to Htlmuhitc the stomach aud

For Liver Cojiim.aint and Us various svinp

m?i: or Green sicknk.-s. III Lines Colic and
Billot's PEVKR8, they should be judiciously taken
for ?ach case, to correct the diseased action or
remove the obstructions which cause it.
For Dtsenteky or Riarruiea, but one mild
dose Is generally required.
For lUlKCMATlSM, ?0CT, GRAVEL, PALPITATION
of the Heart, Pain in the Siiie, Race and
LUNGS, tVey should be cnntinuouslr luken, as re

appear.
For Dropsy and Dropsical Swellings they
should be taken In large and fr?taient doses to
produce the eri>et of a drastic purge".
ForSurrnessnJs a large dose should betaken
as It produces the desired cll'cct bv sympathy.
As a Dinner Pili , take one or two Pills to pro
mote digestion and relieve the stumach.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, restores I ho appetite,
and Invigorates the system. Hence it Is often ad

The Importance or support in,- :- I lure In Itscouillcl
with disease is now understood. Complaints In
themselves weakening arc no longer aggravated
by artificial depletion. They arc met with TONICS
that rally the vital powers and enable (hem to de

PLANTATION BITTERS.
This wonderful vegetable restorative is the sheet

anchor of the feeble and debilitated. As a cordial
for the aged nnd decrepid it tins no equal among

to which ttic tender sex are especially subject. It
Is superseding every other stimulant and nervine.
In nil climates, tropical, temperate or frigid, it
acts as a specific lu every species of disorder
which undermines the bodily strength and
breaks dowu the animal spirits. Wherever It
Is Introduced It becomes a standard article
-a medicinal staple. Druggists, although their
profit npon it is small, tlud it absolutely
necessary to keep a pr?parai ion for which
everybody Inquires, and for which noboily

popular medicine iu the civilized world.
Extensively as it is advertised, its best ad

uniformly follows Its use. Every bottle sold iu
stircs the sale of nt least half a dozen more. Un
like Other stimulants, It braces ami fortifies the

"tie cheering eirect which it produces upou the

The perfect purity of ail Us ingredients, their
