THE POST ROYAL RAILBOAD.-Tbe Angosta Chronicle eave: "Messrs. Railroad, by Riving out the work upon it aa speedily as possiole." M CEDER NEAR ALKSN. - On Tuesday laata man named John Holley was fatally wounded near Aiken, S. 0. It seems thal Holley and an employee named Malloy bad gone to Aiken to purchase suppli?e. After their purchases had been completed, Malloy daposited a bundle of goods in the cart of Holley to be transported to his home. The parties left the town, sad when on the road Malloy requested Holley to allow him to ride in his cart. Holley declined in cons?quence of the heavy road, whioh so in? ce nsed Malloy that he drew his pistol and fa? tally wounded Holley, who waa carried to his home and has since died. Malloy is a man of herculean proportions, who formerly was a dray driver in Augusta. At the time of Abe killing; ho was employed by bis viotim. The murderer has not yet been arrested. THE BOAT RACE.-The race between the Blacksnake and Oriole came off Saturday af? ternoon, per announcement. Although it was not known to the public that a race waa in prospect until Saturday morning, there was a considerable number of persons upon the Bat? tery to witness it. The course was from the White Point buoy to the Undine station, about a mile distant off tie South Battery. The crows were: R. A. Alston,coxswain; D.D. Parker, stroke; Wm. O. Webb, R. M. Means, J. P. DeSaussure, H. N. Pat ker, J. H. Roper, H. A. DeSaussuro, J. R. aluin ewes, of tho Oriole. Augustus Yates, coxswain; H. B. Ball, stroke; George Edwards, N. Simons, H. R. Simons, CI. C. Gaillard, W. A. Pringle, of the Blacksnake. The j* dge*. Captain James Frazer, E. H. Sparkman and F. K. Huger, decided that the Blacksnake, whioh only carries six oars, while her opponent carries eight, should bo allowed ten seconds. About six o'clock the signal for the start was given, and in a moment both boats were dash?ne; through the water as fast as their oarsmen could, with "astrong pull, along pall, ?nd a pall together," make them. INQUESTS.-On Saturday last, Coroner Whit? ing held ao inquest apon the body of Prince Allison, who was drowned OD Monday last. The verdict of the jury was "accidental drown? ing." The body of the other man bas not been found. He also held an inquest upon the body of an old colored woman, Lucy Brown by name, who was found dead in her bed, at No. 114 Trodd street, early Saturday morning. The verdict of the jory was that her death was occasioned by disease of the heart. SHOOTING MURDEH NIAS COLUMBIA.-The Phoenix, of yesterday, says: "A young wo mao, Elisa Boyer, was found dead on yes? terday near a stream about three and a half j miles from the city. From the marks apon her person it is supposed that sho bad been outraged and then murdered. No clue as yet hts been discovered as to the perpetrator of | this foul act. The jury of inquest impanelled by Coroner Thompson met, bnt have not yet ar? rived at a decision. The post mortem exami? nation was mada by Dr. R. W. Gibbes.
