I WHAT MUST A POOR MARRIED MAST

An Unfaithful SS w ? to a n A-A Bridal
Wreath-A Disconsolate Wife ?nd ?
! Surprised Cride ?nd Groom*
Twelve months ago a sable individual, who
rejoices in the cog oom on of Thomas An
detson. wooed and won a damsel of his race
and they were daly married. A short tune
since a pledge of their mutual affeotion was
sent to them, and the confiding wife thought
that
"Life's golden bell* would ni wi y ? tinkle sweet
And merry mualo make about their feet,"
As they then appeared to be doing.
A day ot* two since she was rudely awakened
from her dream of happiness by a report that
her husband, who had apparently been all de?
votion, was engaged to a young gill, to whom
h3 was to be married Thursday night, nigbt
before last.
Learning that Rev. Mr. Lewis, pastor f one
of the colored churches of the etty, had been
requested to porlorm ho marriage ceremony,
she oalied npou him Thursday morning, and
asked him if the report was true, stating that
Thomas was ber husband, in proof of which
she showed the marriage certificate. Up re?
plied , that his services had been engaged to
porlorm the ceremony for the parties mention?
ed at eight o'clock. He then told her t? come
before the time appointed, and he would place
her in the room adjoining the ono in whioh tho
ceremony WAS to bo performed, and at the pro?
per time she could confront her unfaithful lord
and master.
I 'She came and was duly p jsted, and there ro
' mained not long before in marched her hus?
band, on his arm loaning a sable damsel with
a profusion of orange blossoms and bridal veil
which, contrasted with her dark skin, remind?
ed one of snowflakes in a coal yard. Follow?
ing the "happy couple" were the waiters, foiii
of either sex, gorgeously gotten up.
Mr. Lewis, before proceeding with the cere?
monies, asked the groom if he bad any childre??
"One," he replie J. "Where is your wife?"
Anderson suspecting that his interrogator
knew all about' his faithless conduct, replied
that she was living, and was in the city. Thu
admission, of course, created not a little sen?
sation, and the blooming bride's corset, No.
S3, was seen to heave as if her "heart was a
busting;" but th-} whole party was suddenly
thrown into the wddect disorder hy the ap?
pearance of the injured wife. The husband
turned all colors at once, but in a moment be
came composed, and enied that the womal
was his wife. The certificate of marriage-i
troublesome document to all men who want tc
be Mormons without li vin? in Utah-wai
shown him, and he finally acknowledged ths
he had legally married th? woman who stooi
before him and entreated him to come to he
and their child but he refused to return, an<
after receiving a lecture from the minister foi
his base conduct, retired with the womal
whom he had brought to enter into the mat
riage state with him.
The Wife consulted Justice Mackey in re
! gard to the affair, desiring to know if the la?
would not make her husband lo ave the wom?i
he had taken up with, and return to his wife
As . we learn, Anderson is in trouble generally
he does not wish to return to his wife, no
does he wish to continue his engagement witl
his would-be bride; but she won't lei bim go
and "what mast a poor married man do ?"

the negroes have been acting in a most disor?

the disgusting actions and hearing the foul
