The pest week has boen unusually dull, and quo
U?OB? remain unaltered. Thoss given below are
merely nominal, as there wee no large transactions
upon which to base any change. State bank tills
are still in demand, under a slight advance on pre?
vious rates. Ur. A. M. Moreland purchased il5,MO
South Carolina Railroad seven per cent, bonds, due
in 1872, at 86 cents, and two hundred wtole shares
South Carolina Railroad and Bank stock at 45. This
was the only large transaction of the week, and the
price of Other securities is unchanged.

TBS CROPS.-The growing crop of cotton bas con?
tinued to progress favorably during the past week,
and the reports from most sections indicate a steady
improvement. In the seaboard districts of thia
Slate the rice on some of the streams is in danger
from salts, and com has been ir jared for want of
rain, but the sea island cotton promises well, and as
yet there hss been no appearance of caterpillar.
TEX COTTON MABBXT.-There has been a steady
inquiry for the staple from Northern manufacturers

stocks in the Southern ports footers have been ena?

advancing tendency; but this improvement has been
shown mostly In the American market, the article
