ful time was spent yesterday in an excursion
of several of our prominent Irish citizens to
the pointe Of interest in the harbor.
The excursion was gotten up in honor of
General John O'Neil. At twelve o'clock the
party, consisting of the General, Captain James
?[. Uuhrany. Jobn F. OWeUl, T. 8. O'Brien,
ap tain James Armstrong, Wm. 8. Hastie,
James Cosgrove. Captain Gray, of the steam
ship Prometheus, Captain Boyle, sud others,
assembled at the wharf. One of the party in at?
tempting to got on board made a shp and went
into the water. " He was fished out and allow?
ed time- to change his clothing. This being
done, the yacht Mary Ells, with the excursion?
ists and a bountiful supply of solid and liquid
provisions, mp ved off from the wharf, and was
soon bounding gaily sud rapidly down the
harbor.
Fort Sumter was first visited and a thorough
inepectionsu* it made. Morris Island was the
next point of interest, and while there Captain
Mulvany gare a most graphic and interesting
description of the dete^ne of Battery Wagner
He was present at this battery and also at
fort Sumter when the moat memorable events
in their history transpired, and bio accounts of
them added mach to the interest of this trip.
An hour of more wes spent on the island and
then sall was made for Sullivan's li land, where
Fort Moultrie was vis!ted, after which the party
returned to the city, arriving about seven
o'okx*. . " -? .

between magistrate Mackey and his nepbev
Mr. Allen B. Miller, to whom the former ha
expressed himself strongly in reference toa
ill-founded matter affecting Mr. Mackey'a oft
oial conduct, laid before the Grand Jury, c
which Mr. Miller was a member. Mr. Milk
took umbrage at his uncle's remarks, belie vin
them specially directed to him, and asked a
explanation, when words ensued, which cause
Mr. Mackey to give Mr. Miller severe slap
and flually to ply his. cane. Mr. Maokey wa
an ea ted on a-warrant sued out at the office c

of assault and battery.
TEX LATE JAKES MURDOCH.-The remain
of the late James Murdoch arrived on th
Northeastern Railroad at four o'clock jester
day afternoon, and were met at the depot by i
committee from the Hibernian Society oonsist
ing of Mesara. Bernard O'Neill, William Eoox
Miles Drake, Lawence Cantwell, W. C. For
sythe, J. Thomson, A. Mc Loy and John Har
beson, j "j
The remains were carried to the Hibernia!
Han, on Meeting-street, the entrance of wbict
was draped in mourning, where they will re
main until Friday morning. Then they wit
be interred in the cemetery of the Unitarian
Church, next to those of his brother.
The innermost case in which, the remains arc
enclosed is of lead and hermetically sealed,
This is laid in a beautiful rosewood coffin,
richly adorned with silver, with a glass front,
through which the features could be seen, ap
pearing as if in natural repose.
Mr. Murdoch was sixty-one years old at the
time of his death, and was one of the oldest
members of the Hibernian Society, having
been connected with the organization upwards
of thirty years.
Different membsrs of the society will be in
attendance at the ball to receive those frieude
of the deceased who may wish to see him for
the last time._

of several thousand copies, and are reserving
only one hundred and fifty copies for the pur?

who may hereafter desire the first number.
The type having been distributed, we are thus
compelled through your columns to apologise
br our inability to fill present orders.
Our next number will be issued promptly on
the first day of July next, and will exceed in
interest even that which bas called forth so
many kind encomiums from the people and
our brethren of the press. For mutual conve?
nience and satisfaction, we beg that those who
