following report, which was adopted :
The Executive Committee have the honor to

of the Hibernian Hall for meeting of the Board
and Executive Committee.
Second. That.after due consideration, they
find the resolution recommending the aboli?
tion of the charge for rice tierces in accord?
ance with interests of the trade in that article,
and are of opinion that the resolution ought
to be adopted.

Americans know not now to create, bat amply
appreciate and covet.
To detail every style of amusement spread
upon the programme, would fill a page. But
we venture te say that no one who bas visited
the ScbnetzenpUtz, or who may do so to-day,
will net, besides enjoying an inhalation of pore
eran try air, feel that be bas devoted himself to
a few hoare of innocent recreation calca lated
to infuse fresh vigor into bis frame, and renew
his strength for the more solid toils of life.
Ae we have said, the Schuetzenfest isa grand
German festival, but thia year it is something
more. The aim of the managers bas been to
Blake it a "Volktest," a "People's Festival,''
said in this they bave this year succeeded.
Adversity has caused us to know each other
better (htm before. We have learned to meet
without jarring when the opportunity ?given
as it was yesterday. Teuton, Hibernian, Eng?
lishman and American join hands under the
banner of pleasure and become firm, fast
friends in the bond of innocent enjojmout.
Nor wet e the ladies wanting. They made the
Platz bright with their presence. All Charlee
toa was there, and who could say more.
One of the incidents yesterday was the bal?
loon ascension. This machine would not be
kept down. Like the head of ? Schuetzeh it
would rise and it bounded away over tbe trees,
before the riflemen iu charge were altogether
nady. Better luck next time.
The velocipede race was also a novel sight.
There were two races, one for the fastest veloc?
ipede an and the other for the slowest. The
fast prize-an inlaid inkstand-was won by
Mr. W. S. flenerey, Jr. The slow prize-six
bottles of cologne-was won by Mr. Jobn A.
Moroso. The riding was excellent.'
D?ring the day the pip-papping at the eagle
and the various targets went on without inter?
mission. Mr. Torok, of East Bay, who is one
of the best marksmen in town, shot away the
left leg of the eagle, winning a prize. The
famous bird had been plated with boiler iron,
but this was riddled like a sieve, and it is boped
that the tsp wings, tail and body will be taken
off the bush to-day. The general shooting
?as good. Mr. Clusius, one of the New York
Schuetzen, made forty-four centre bits-seven
on Wednesday and thirty-seven yesterday.
This, we believe, is Jue highest point made.
One of the Charleston Schuetzen made thirty
one centres.
To day special prizes will be put np for tbe
passive numbers and the general public. Six
prizes at least will be shot for in this ?-*^lier

and have had no time to amuse themselves;
but they have secured the pleasure of their

MEMORIAL DAT.-The Ladies' Memorial As
sociation mot yostorday afternoon at tho Homa,
in Broad-street, and conferred with a commit?
tee of the Survivors' Association about the cel?
ebration of Memorial Day. The programme
had been arranged, and will probably be pub
lit bed to-morrow.
THE MASS MEET ISO which wad to have been
held at White Point Garden last evening, to be
addressed hy Mr. Z. McDonald, ajrent of the
Louisiana Labor Association, and others, did
not take place, in consequence of some ot the
prominent speakers, who promised to bs pres?
ent, not appearing. McDonald withdrew, after
waiting for some time.

A prominent colored Republican aspires to
be chief of the Fire Depart ment.
The First Brigade of Regulars.
This brigade was composed of the beet fight?
ing material in the Confederate army, lt
served gallantly in the siege of Charleston,
enduring all the hardships of Sumter and.
Wagner, and won new laurels at Bentonville
and Averysboro', N. C., where both regiments
were decimated. Since the. war tho command
bas been scattered over Dixie, and if tho long
roll were now sounded responses oonld be
beard from the Potomac to the Rio Grande.
The absent officers and men w;il be pleased to
learn of the effort being made to erect a monu?
ment over their honored dead, and will gladly
assist their former comrades in this good
cause. We give below the result of a prelimi?
nary meeting held in this city.
A meeting of the surviving officers, in
Charleston, of the 8outh Carolina Brisado of
Regalars, consisting of the First South Caro?

the 28th April, 1869, for the purpose of organ?
izing an association, and in order to raise funds
sufficient to erect a suitable monument to their
