extra mooting of the Charleston District Association
last night, at the reading-room, Broad-street. There
was a large attendance of the members, and a num?
ber of letters of application for membership were
read. It was decided to celebrate tho third anniver?
sary of tho association by a supper on Friday eve?
ning, the 16th instant.
DISTURBAN-CE IN THE MABKET.-Yesterday
. there wa3 a disturbance in the market, occasioned by
a white man, under thc influence ot liqnor, interfer?
ing with a policeman on duty, and drawing a knif-i
on bin;. Tte policeman, it ls stated, in self-defence,
gave himseveial severe raps on the head, which
caused ?he tdood to flow freely. The offender was,
finally, carried to the guardhouse, and the crowd dis?
persed.

THE MILLS HOUSE.-It is at last settled,
beyond peradventure, that tbis fine house will be
opened to the travelling public Two experienced
hosts from the West, who havo ample means for
conducting the estiblishment on a liberal sca'e.
have concluded negotiations for a 'ive years' lease ol
the promise-, which thoy intend to refurnish in
handsome style, in time for the opening on the 1st
of September. Ihe house is to be repainted and
generally overhauled and made complete in all its
appointments. Thia ia another cheering sign of the
marked resuscitation of busines- in our community.
CARGO FOR LIVERPOOL.-The fine bark Har?
riet F. Hussey lett her wharf yesterday, laving a full
cargo on board for Liverpool, and came to an anchor
in the stream before proceeding to sea. Notwith?
standing tho flat condition of the freight market,
this vessel had a good freight promptly secured to
her by Messrs. W. Roach A Co., consisting of 2001
bales upland cotton, 110 bois, rosin, and 200 tOLs
South Carolina phosphates. Ibis cargo wus valued
at $246,518, and weighed 1,390,853 pounds. Her ste?
vedore was Mr. Wm. Smith, who done his work in
the most satisfactory m an ter and in gcod lime.
CHARLESTON PRESBYTERY was occupied
throughout yesterday in di?cussing plans for the
occupa'ion of the large field made desolate by the
war. The deliberations were most harmonious, and
evinced a most ardent zeal to supply the religions
wants of our surrounding Impoverished commun
nities. To the best of its impaired ability, the Pres?
bytery seems determined to meet the great present
exigency. The sermon or Mr. Bogga, last night, waa
eloquent and effective, based upon the parable of the
Prodigal Son-the text being Luke xv, 20, 21. The
Rev. C. S. Vedder is expected to preach to-night at
8 o'clock, in the Glebe-street Church.
