BURGLAR Y.-Yesterday morning, between
three and four o'clock, the side doer of Johu A.
Cook sc do's, wholesale and retail groscry, at the
corner of King and Mary-streets, was bored with an
auger, and a piece takeu out largo enough to admit
j man's hand, by which the bar of the door was
raised and au entrance effected. The till was robbed
of all it had in it, fortunately not a great deal.

"CLUBS AND STARS.-The budget before tho
Mayor yesterday was small, and readily dispatched.
Private Conway, of the police force, was dismissed
from the service for being under the influence of
liquor while on duty, and assaulting S. B Middleton
and drawing a revolver on C. Bobaiis. He was made
te forfeit all pay also.
The life of a floe Newfoundland dog was saved by
his owner paying tho penalty and fine for his going
at largo without a license.
Another 'Newfoundla ?1 dog taken up on East Bay,
will be killed if the fine and license fee are not paid.
James Jenkins, colored, found sleeping in tho
basement of the old Customhouse, was sent to the
colored Orphan House.
Thomas Bom fi o id, colored, was arrested j efter day
for being drunk sud disorderly and cutting a man
on the hand.

to the Empress Eugenie, seemed to excel herself,

found guilt; of petty larceny. Abraham Brown, in?
dicted for burglary and larceny, and defended hy W.
