one colored woman are reported to have died from

fifty-eighth anniversary ol the Charleston Billie Soci?

tions have been of a decidedly hopeluf character. The

favorable to thc cause, and thc hope is entertained

it the Hibernian Hall last evening, given in aid of ?
the German Ladies' Society, w s o most complete
success in evcr.v particular. Tho hall was crowded
toils utmost, cinacity, aud at times there wore as
many as fifty or sixty couples on thc floor at once.
There were recitations by ladies, and songs, all of
which wore rendered with graco aud effect Tho
music furnished by Metz'a band was not the least
feature of the gay aud agreeable evening. Refresh?
ments were to be had at the Buffet, under the expe?
rienced manipula'ion of Mr. D. Gotjen. There has
aot been a pleasant r or more successful entertain?
