I was personally oogn?zant, during my imprison? ment in Charleston, and subsequently wbilo 1 was stationed in that city, of the active si d unceasing benevolence of the Sisters ot Moroy; their oharitab'e sfflccs being freely dealt out to all who needed them, without xoferouce to c ass, condition or nationality; ind I knew oi many friends and acquaintances in the Federal Army who were the re. i pieu ts of their benefi? cent and kind, attentions. Many a sick and wounded Federal prisoner was indebted to thom for necessary aouri?limont and attention; and frequently their lyiug pillows were ?oothed and comforted by tho pious consolations of the ~taters of Meroy. I earnestly hope that they may succeed in their application to Congress, to enable them to rebuild their desolated edifice, so long sedulously devoted to the sh Uer anti education of the. orphans of Charles? ton, as a slight recognition of ibeir unselfish devo? tion to the alleviation of human suffering.
