Tile Raven Days.
BT SIDNEY Ll.NIEK.
Oar hearts arc gone, and cur hearts are broken,
And but the ehosts of homes to us remain,
And ghostly eyos aod hollow s ghsgive token,
From friend to friend of an unspoken pain.
0, Baven Days, dark Raven Divs of sorrow,
Bring to us, in your whetted ivory beak.',
Some sigh out of tlio far land of Tc-mor'ow,
Some strip of ?ea-g reen dawn, some orange streaks.
Te float in du?ky fites, forever croaking
Y? chill our manhood with your dreary '.ude.
Pale, in tho dark, not even God invoking,
We lie in chains, too weak to Oe afraid.
O, Baven Days, dark Baven Days of sorrow,
W?l ever any warm light come again ?
Will ever the lit moun'ains of To-morrow
Begin to gleam across thc mournful plain ?
