JAIL DELTV-HY IN MARLBORO'.-The Cheraw
Democrat brings us a report that the prisoners in
Marlboro' jail rose against the jailor, and after mas?
tering him, seven of them made their escape. No
damago was dono further than choking the jailor for
a time. This nows may be exaggerated, but it is
certain that some prisoners hava escaped.

though the night was inclement and there wer3
services in many other "churches, yet the spacious
edifice of st. Luke's was rilled, and the large
audience manifested undiminished interest in a ser?
vice which lasted nearly two hours. Rev. W. O.
Prentiss conducted tho meeting, and made the open?
ing address. Addresses were made also by Rev. Mr.
Drayton and Rev. John T. Wightman, and prayer
offered by Rev. Mesar*. Gadsden, Bowman and Ved
der. The addresses were appropriate and eloquent
and the oatire service* impiessive. We observed
also among thc clergymen within the altar, the ilev.
Dr. Smythe, who dismissed the congregation with
thc benediction, and Rev. W. H. Adams. Large as
was Oao number of minasteis present, it would have
been much larger but fer tbe necessary presence of
many at evening service in their own churches.
The meeting last night was held in Trinity
Church, Hos-l-strcct A large number of clergymen
